Please forgive the vanity...
Over the years, I have really enjoyed participating in Free Republic discussions on a great variety of topics. Even when there was strong disagreement, Free Republic brought me a sense of connection with others that always seemed to have a purpose.
Unfortunately, I now see clearly that it is over for the US. The constitution has no meaning and we are essentially under mob rule. There is no party to turn to and all the politicians are in collusion to game the system. I think we have reached a stage where this is all going to unravel economically and socially much faster than most people think.
Everything being pushed that most of us are against will come to fruition, with no chance of stopping it. I also realize that there will be no pushback, or moment of "hell no", despite all the brave talk of those behind keyboards. All the big talkers will eventually give up their first and second amendment rights with hardly a whimper.
I am basically going to disconnect, discontinue following politics, and quit voting. I refuse to be Charlie Brown with Lucy and the football any longer. I will now concentrate strictly on my own preparations with my family for when this all goes belly up. Honestly, at this point I would rather it all just go ahead and collapse sooner rather than later.
For my own sanity, I just need to tune it all out from now on.
These are signs that a very important event is drawing close.
How many of us could have put up with being an apostle of Christ in the first century?
& calling a person names is going to help? why do that? to what end? to what purpose?
Did you know yesterday was the Feast of St. Thomas More? (1478-1535) Do you know why he was beheaded? Because he stood by his principles and died for it -EVEN tho’ it took AGES for him to be declared a saint in the catholic church.
I have respect for people like this (not so much the catholic church tho) but you know, in the end , Thomas More lived his truth and belief and ultimately paid the price.
We are all living in tumultuous times and a brief farewell to the message board from a member here is certainly trollish to say the least. Your negative comment doesn’t add anything to the equation of what this individual is going through and that’s the shame here @ Free Republic.
I see clearly myself that it is over for the US,too, even tho my loved ones don’t & that’s hardest part;because I love my family and I want them to see this,too;but they can’t.
Maybe when this individual posted “I am basically going to disconnect,discontinue following politics,and quit voting” was shorthand for the deep pain he/she is undergoing and hasn’t developed a plan yet - but to jump on someone & call them names is really not the best reflection of the over-arching purpose and function of Free Republic.
A huge border guard would have to be put in place on the bordering states if Texas ever seceded. My God, they’d be coming across from Oklahoma and Arkansas faster than they are from Mexico.

And by the way, that huge border guard would be tasked with figuring out which one truly want to be Texans and which ones to turn back.
Before you see a mustering of state troops, recall that the same parties running DC are the same parties running the states.
The gravy train starts in DC and goes to the states. States are not going to derail that.

The majority of the population when our founding fathers fought to establish our great country had the same attitude.
The few endured and fought so that you could do like the people did back then, ask to be enslaved to government.

It is 50-50 at this point if a CoS will actually work but in the end it will at least be a rally point for those who end up fighting the civil war....
No, you cannot go stick your head in the sand and squirt ostrich poop at the roaming bands of liberal marauders who will come for your stuff when things go south. They want you to do that. The easier to take it all from you.

It seems that the Constitution is just a piece of paper with some words on it that no one seems to have read.
If they ever got back to following it, there would be the greatest period of peace and prosperity ever, but leftists will continue to denigrate it and present the socialist revolution as the recipe for human utopia on earth.
I’ve had a belly full of leftist self-appointed brilliant geniuses who know all the answers.
It may be time to hunker down and get ready for the final destruction of the republic by communist punks.
