France’s Ecology Minister Segolene Royal wants people to stop eating Nutella because it’s essentially destroying the planet.
Royal said in an interview with French television network Canal+ that people should stop eating the popular chocolate spread because harvesting one of its key ingredients, palm oil, leads to deforestation that is damaging the environment.
Nutella is a huge deal in France — the country consumes 26% of all Nutella produced globally by maker Ferrero.
Royal said in the Canal+ interview: “We have to replant a lot of trees because there is massive deforestation that also leads to global warming. We should stop eating Nutella, for example, because it’s made with palm oil. Oil palms have replaced trees, and therefore caused considerable damage to the environment.”

It's really tasty because it's actual sugar and not corn syrup, but it's addictive and terrible for you.
I'll probably take down a whole jar tomorrow now that this article has me dwelling on it.
Yeah...the U.S. is almost completely deforested...so is Canada. Just look at a Google geographical map of the U.S. and Canada. Ignore all those billions of tall, brown/gray objects with green things attached to them.

Here’s a wild-ass suggestion; plant the f’ing palm trees that provide the oils. Plant hundreds or thousands of acres of them. Grow them like the crop they are and harvest them when they are ready.

That is the problem, too much sugar. Unless one is doing heavy labor daily, it’s seriously bad. As for the palm oil, it’s good, depending on how it’s processed.

My granddaughter is really pissed at the French. She, at 10, wants to invade France and straighten them out. Probably could. Has an orange belt in Tai Quan Do and can shoot a handgun like an adult.
