Goodfellas
Casino
Miller’s Crossing
Carlito’s Way
Donnie Brasco
Scarface
The Business
those are 7 entertaining “crime/mob” movies for avoiding 7 days of lousy summer primetime programming. ;)

The movie has special meaning in my household because my husband was working for another airline, in the attached cargo building, the night of the heist.
And he didn’t hear a thing.

Perfect timing as I’m re-reading Wiseguys right now and a lot of the movie dialog is verbatim from the book.

That theme song was pretty good. I’ll bet that musician did pretty well for himself.

Sorry... Am female (real DNA, not transgendered) and watch it every time it is on tv, while my husband falls asleep about 90 minutes into it. Also, loved the redemptive grace of “Pulp Fictin” and HATED the denigration of “Get Shorty”.

Mrs Palace and I both grew up on Long Island. We knew these people from grade school. We both loved it.

My husband scheduled his college classes around reruns of The Rockford Files. He introduced me to the show and I like it. I heard Stephen Cannell interviewed on a local radio show telling about how they came up with the premise, pretty funny.

I used to live in Joseph Colombo’s old neighborhood. It’s amazing how much it’s changed in just a few decades.

The funny thing is that it does the exact opposite, especially if you look at the very end of the film-or read the book it was based upon,
WiseguyEven after being spared an indefinite prison sentence and getting away from it with his life, Henry Hill didn't learn anything. He resented the fact that all of the unearned, coerced wealth he received because of his Mob connections was gone, and that he was being placed on the same level as "schmucks" who actually earned their livings honestly.

It's one of those movies that's constantly run on cable but I never tire of watching, a la The LOTR and Saving Private Ryan.
