The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
I think that view may depend on if you are playing in it or commuting in it...
Or shoveling it.
I like to watch it on television.
The car started, after some encouragement, and we had a nice trip through woods and farms.
Two doses down today and two to go. And I got cash for laundry. Next time I go down the hill for beer, I will get $10 in quarters.
Query: Besides the spelling, (ha-ha) what’s the difference between a burrito and a chimichanga?
And did I tell you I got a call from another agency? The gal told me she would be here today at 1500. I said, “Ohno. No afternoon appointments! I am often in bed by 1500, and in fact, one day this week I was in bed at 1100.”
Then she said, “Oh. Yes. I see that you are an early riser.” So much for the smarmy wimp and his promise to let the next agency know of my CFIDS. So, once again, I will print out the CFIDS protocol.
I have no idea.
Good luck with the agency, sigh.
A Chimichanga is a deep-fried burrito...
Is item 1 on the CFIDS protocal something like this?
1. Assume the client is armed, finger on the trigger, and 2 lbs of 2.1 lbs trigger force applied. Be NICE!
BTW: Chimichanga has 10 syllables whereas burrito has seven.
Those Mexicans like a lot of syllables in their food.
Steak - 1
Burger - 2
Fries - 1
We must like to order fast so we can eat.
Oh. OK. Thanks.
Because I’ve been buying some frozen ones and they are both the same kind (beef and three cheese,) but I was confused by the difference. They taste the same...kinda.

Oasis: Part One
A desert planet, society divided into 13 “tribes”... but someone is upsetting the balance and trying to grab power.
Hmmm....
Over on FauxSnooze.com there’s an article entitled, “Can Hamsters Be Happy?”
I may be wrong, but I think recent Supreme Court decisions indicate they have a Constitutional Right to be happy.
Unless you think Justice Kennedy is some kine of specist. And if you think that you may have committed a felony.
Anyway, I hope all the hamsters in the world are getting the justice they deserve. Otherwise I might have to organize a protest.
Does a “Part I” qualify as 1 short story in your challenge?
Or did I miss when that ended? I’m SO not good at keeping track of these things.
It ends today.
Not all the stories I wrote are on the blog and I haven’t counted them up. I might be a story or two behind.
Yes, I am definitely counting it as one! lol
Once they’ve been frozen, you probably can’t tell whether they were originally fried.
Are you going to bring cats to your happy hamster protest?
Pretty good stuff. Only one nit.
With my wife tutoring at-risk youth I read a lot of fiction for kids where kids are the heros. I’m not sure how old Jake is supposed to be but he’s thinking pretty well to be a young teen. OTOH his relationship with his father had me thinking he was in the 14-16 range gauging by life here on Terra. Might be worth clarifying.
Well, there’s a stumper. If the hamsters are protected from the cats the hamsters will be happy but the cats won’t be.
And I’m not even going to get into the rumors I’ve heard about protected classes of humans.
How does this end so every critter is happy?
I think he’s more like 16 or so, almost ready to go out on his own, or at least thinks he is. I’ll try to figure something out for the next part.
Thanks for the input. It is definitely something that needs a look.
Which is probably why I asked. I couldn’t tell the difference. They are a cheap lunch at $1. So I bought a dozen of each, since they are frozen. They should last me a while.
