So it’s official. Bruce Jenner is now a “woman.” He calls himself Caitlyn.
Cue the social media, social justice warriors delivering the grandiose, unnecessary compliments. “Oh she’s so brave!” “We’re so proud of you!” “Caitlyn, you’re a hero!”
Listen, I don’t begrudge Bruce Jenner for wanting to be happy. Everyone wants to be happy. The problem is that with the recent, hyper-aggressive push to normalize transgenderism, we’ll no longer be able to discuss whether some decisions made in the pursuit of happiness are healthful. Because… hate speech.
Many people, including many in the gay community, think that transgenderism is a mental condition more effectively treated with psychiatry than surgery. I get where leftists are coming from; this person isn’t hurting anybody (aside from themselves), so what difference does it make? On the surface, it seems like a reasonable position to hold. One that quickly falls apart when you begin to examine it more closely.
Apotemnophilia is a fetish in which people wish to become an amputee. They find sexual satisfaction and ultimately, happiness, through the act of the removal of limbs or simulating the removal of limbs. There are websites, message boards and get-togethers devoted exclusively to the activity. As a general rule, society doesn’t consider this to be healthful. Some of us may accept it, ignore it and move on with our lives, but we don’t praise it or trot apotemnopheliacs out as heroes. And let’s be honest… most of us think it’s pretty damn weird.
Now, change that limb to a penis. If you don’t accept it, even worse, if you don’t praise it, you’re deemed hateful. The politically correct lobbyists of the day will take great care in avoiding the staggeringly high suicide rate of transgenders, they will ignore the medical reality that sex change operations and hormone replacement therapies come with a litany of very serious health problems, heck, they’ll ignore overall science.
If you choose not to do so, you will be deemed hateful. This is the playbook. Know it, learn it, expect it. Bruce ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner, will be their poster child.
Something that was discussed on this week’s podcast, and something that I find to be an incredibly interesting point from Milo Yiannopoulous, is that the entire leftist theory on which transgender acceptance is based, forces leftists into a rough juxtaposition to begin with.

See, if it’s truly possible that a male body can be born with the wrong brain, or that a female body can be born with a male brain… it forces the left to concede that gender is not merely a product of societal construct, but biology. If, in order to avoid classifying transgenderism as a psychiatric disorder, we’re required to recognize the inherent biological, scientifically measurable differences between genders… that creates incredible contradictions for feminism, gay rights progress and ultimately, yes, transgenderism.

While I have my doubts about the effectiveness (or wisdom) of this sort of treatment, I don't care really if people want to make their bodies into whatever they like.
What I do care about, rather passionately, is the celebration of this as some sort of hip thing to do. Kids growing up these days have enough on their plates, and don't need to be pushed into directions they may live to regret.
We agree completely. This “celebration” is misplaced. She should be accepted, is all. The over the top worship of her bravery is possibly patronizing because it’s so uncomfortable. It is not right.
But I can’t blame jenner for wanting after 65 years to see if this helps.
My thoughts on Caitlin Jenner (from a scene in the movie Tootsie):

It's difficult to figure out how to respond to a post when you don't know what on earth the other person is talking about. And I don't...even after reading your post three times.
Unkind? How is it unkind to reference various mental illnesses and demonstrate why humoring them---which IS what you are doing, even though you think it's simply being compassionate---is harmful?
Or do you see me as being unkind because I mentioned kleptomania when your sister-in-law had it? (Which I am sorry for, BTW). Every time you see kleptomania referenced, do you view it as a personal insult?

More than once you've said that what Jenner is doing is a welcome cure for his problem. It is not, just as the above examples are not cures for those problems. Just as I have posted to you before, if it were a cure, those people wouldn't have such a high rate of suicide AFTER surgery, etc. But you have yet to respond to that truth.

Her doctors went into court to keep her out of jail the third time. She needed to be supervised from then on in shops. We need to have compassion for people with mental disorders. We do.
It upsets me that people here feel they are so religious and thus holier but they don't have compassion for the person with mental differences. I have no problem with people ripping the agenda of the media promoting transexuals. But the person themselves is trying desperately to feel normal, which may or not be possible. The thing you refuse to see, or possibly dismiss, is that these people are part of an agenda to make gender irrelevant and to promote perversion in a quest to ultimately destroy the family...Jenner included. Sorry, but my compassion is in short supply for that. I am sick to DEATH of the perversion I see all around me, and the simple fact is that what Jenner has done to himself IS perversion.
Jenner and others like him reject God's creation and natural order. Is it any wonder that they're still miserable after they finish messing themselves up?
A person doesn't have to be the Apostle Paul to understand that.

Compassion is not humoring. Loving your fellow as yourself is not humoring; your use of the word shows meanness.
I have NEVER said, not more than once as you say, that what Jenner is doing is a cure. I have only said that after he lived 60 odd years as a man, hiding his brain dysfunction and being miserable, the only treatment available to him appears to be trying life as the brain gender. It’s a treatment. Surely not a cure. It’s also a treatment with only 50% chance of success (success being contentment). Thus it is a bad treatment. But nothing else is out there.

The cure would be therapy which addresses the insane belief that a man is really a woman. THAT is what needs to be dealt with.

But then that would require you to see this issue more logically and, yes, sanely. As it is, you’re flying along on pure, unadulterated emotion, and the high is only increased by your sanctimony and self-righteousness, as though you’re the only Freeper with a (sob) heart.

All tiny early embryos are essentially female. At some time early in development, the gonads form, and when they form, they produce hormones. The embryos whose gonads produce testosterone then undergo male-specific development--their brains take on male characteristics, their bodies go on to form male genitalia. (That is, unless they have a genetic defect that prevents their bodies from responding to the testosterone, which happens very rarely.) The embryos whose gonads do not produce testosterone continue on the female development path.
I think that those who suffer from "gender dysmorphic disorder" do not really suffer from a disorder related to their gender at all. I think that they suffer from a disorder that causes them to want to distance themselves from who they are, to be another person. And since that is impossible, they fixate on the closest thing--their gender, because gender is so closely related to identity. If they can change their gender, they believe that they will become someone else. But it doesn't work that way--after steroid use and physical mutilation, they are *still* the same person they were before, just in worse physical condition.
"Gender dysmorphic disorder" needs to be treated, and better treatment options desperately need to be researched. The barbaric practice of pumping up its victims with steroids and surgically mutilating them needs to be stopped. I'm sure it's very lucrative for those involved in the practice, so there is not much incentive to come up with real treatments.
