It was one small ban for mankinis, one giant step for an English seaside resort town.
Officials in Newquay say crime has fallen since they cracked down on stag parties with revelers wearing the revealing one-piece garments. [
]
Police clamped down on anti-social behavior, including public drunkenness and the wearing of inappropriate clothing, including the sling-style mens swimsuits made notorious by comic character Borat, which one senior police officer called revolting.

Absolutely agree. Maybe I should have put it in the smoky backroom, in retrospect; they do seem to encourage criminal behavior.

Does "stag party" mean the same thing in England as it does in the US?
Because I can't imagine young men partying in a mankini the night before the wedding.

I would go further - I will “abuse” anyone that posts one!

“Mankini clampdown” - Two words that cause nausea when combined.

So it's a stag party, and all the men are going to be dressed like that???
No thanks.

Sounds like homosexuals partying. I suppose it could be hetero men behaving badly, but I doubt if hetero men would want to wear mankinis to party — definitely sounds like queers to me.

Yes, I'm sure you're right. It's the only thing that makes sense.
So, "stag party" has lost its rich historical meaning... bachelors whooping it up with strippers and excessive liquor the night before the wedding... and has been redefined as a gay male sex party.
What has the world come to?

I must have missed that flick.
I'd rather think of Connery as 007.

It couldn't be cause the writer had an agenda, could it?
Maybe "Asian" (read: Pakistani) men were involved, too?

I thought they used to be called “Grape Smugglers” instead of “Mankinis”...

Urban legend has it that Sean Connery is not anatomically suited to a true mankini.
The problem is not that he's too small.
To: TontoKowalski
The authorities have gone from putting an English Lord (Montagu) in jail for queer behavior 60 years ago to refusing to report queers in a bad light nowadays.
Now it really IS "the love that dare not speak its name", a phrase used in Oscar Wilde's trial.
