Because the right has no idea who the Duggars are. We’ve never even heard of the show, seen an episode or give a darn?

We’re out here actually living family life?

Reality shows make me want to gnaw the arm off my chair just to stay sane.

“Families with a large number of children are not freaks.”

You know this, I know this, but to the left they are freaks.

Also Woody Allen. Hollywood is filled with them, it is Disneyland for the pedos. Look what happen to Corey Haims, Jonathan Brandis, and posible River Phoenix.

I bet they have no problems advertising at a Gay Parade with NAMBLA marching in it. Nope no problem there.

Woody Allen, didn’t he do incest too? Like on an adopted daughter, but still.

Bill Clinton was accused by numerous women of sexual misconduct including forcible rape. He was an adult man with massive political power.

All these companies would no doubt have several members of their boards and presidents on the list of Democrat and Clinton donors.

Let's be frank. What the young Mr. Duggar did was wrong. It may have been criminal. It was certainly immoral.

We are not sure what he did as most of the report was redacted and ALL of it was supposed to be sealed. Apparently the only sealed documents that are really sealed are Obama’s records! Bit I digress.

We do know that he was accused of ‘inappropriate touching’ of four girls including his sisters and at least one family friend. It is supposed he did it while they slept. It is certain it was done while he was a young teenager.

What he didn't do is hold down a woman in his Arkansas office and forcibly sodomize and rape her. That is reserved for Middle Aged Democrat operatives.

Bill Clinton got off (no pun intended) because he’s a democrat. At least Nixon had the character to step down but not Bill. To Bill “it was just sex” so he lied under oath.

If Bill had told the truth it would have all blown over after Jay Leno made thousands of jokes and soon forgotten. But no. He had to lie under oath. So we got Ken Starr and “Starr Wars”. Ever read “The Starr Report”? Strong sexual content but you’ll laugh till you barf.

What Josh Duggar did, like what BIll did (lying under oath) was criminal. I was angry Bill got away with only a slap on the wrist, as he only lost his law license. I’m angry that Josh had no time in juvy and his parents made it “all go away” with no justice.

I admire and respect the Duggars. The decision to allow tv cameras into the home is suspicious and seems selfish. Of course tv cameras will find sin and unethical behavior in every family especially large families. I think kids should be free from tv, computers, and social media. Play outside.

Yes kindof, Since Mia and Woody never married they did have a long relationship for years. Mia adopted Soon Yi, but still that would still consider his daughter. I believe Soon Yi was 19 when she married Woody. So one can assume they had a relationship way before she was 19. When Woody was 19 he married his first wife who happened to be 16. Looks like there is a pattern.

Here’s the thing, and no more Joshin’ -
just a word of Duggar caution:
If you want your kids to see
your family’s fecundity,
be sure they know that having BABIES
doesn’t mean you’re HAVING babies...

TV cameras, computers and social media are most likely not the cause of the sin committed by Josh Duggar.

Please do not confuse the reaction of people against Christians with the reaction of people against child molesters. This response is more about the child molester angle than the Christian. That said, the Christian angle does amplify the response due the hypocritical undertones.

The Duggars are not being persecuted for being Christian. They are being reviled for being hypocritical in their condemnation of predatory homosexuals while they had a heterosexual predator on the loose in their house.

The negative reaction to the Christian apologists for the Duggars arises from the fact that they concentrate on the Christian aspect of the Duggars and seem to condone the behavior by minimizing it in the light of grace and forgiveness - which does not seem to be as readily available to gays as to their own son.

Look, the Duggars portray themselves as political Christians. That causes a negative response by itself, but add in some child molestation and the reaction increases ten-fold.

Marketing people don’t want to be anywhere near this. To advertise is to support.

I believe I see a lot of TV, but never saw anything negative about the Duggars until here on Free Republic - must have been asleep.
I’ve seen many TV episodes of this family over the years, and admired how so large a family organized themselves in order to live, eat and maintain daily life, as well as special occasions.

Now, the most recent large family featured on TV is the Willis Family, of Nashville, TN. Twelve kids who play a variety of instruments, sing, and dance. Talent to be admired.
Best wishes and prayers for them to remain talented and without stain.

Can only imagine how the Duggar situation has some how affected the Willis’. They are forewarned, for sure.

“Marketing people don’t want to be anywhere near this..”

I agree. I also think that any business will look at the target audience and the ratings before putting money into advertising. That is why companies such as food companies, low cost shoe stores, bridal stores etc.. put their advertising money into commercials.. to reach a target market for their goods. I am sure their executives looked into falling/dropping viewing and decided their money was best spent on a show that was popular/viewed by possible consumers. Business is about money, good or bad. It isn’t about supporting a cause/or one particular family. IMHO.

Do you really think an advertiser shouldn’t dissociate itself from the Duggars?

I think most “Reality” shows get viewers *not* from some compelling story they present, but from the anticipation of some sort of “train wreck” the viewers hope to witness. It would seem the Duggers have now met that expectation and have exhausted their “usefullness” to the network and advertisers.

That being said, if they continued the show, I would bet there would be an increased viewership, at least for a few episodes, just from the voyeurs that (for whatever reason) relish and derive enjoyment from the humiliation, troubles, sins, hardships, etc of others — who are hoping to see the issue picked apart on tv.
