Bill Clinton got off (no pun intended) because he’s a democrat. At least Nixon had the character to step down but not Bill. To Bill “it was just sex” so he lied under oath.
If Bill had told the truth it would have all blown over after Jay Leno made thousands of jokes and soon forgotten. But no. He had to lie under oath. So we got Ken Starr and “Starr Wars”. Ever read “The Starr Report”? Strong sexual content but you’ll laugh till you barf.
What Josh Duggar did, like what BIll did (lying under oath) was criminal. I was angry Bill got away with only a slap on the wrist, as he only lost his law license. I’m angry that Josh had no time in juvy and his parents made it “all go away” with no justice.
What he did was wrong and ‘potentially’ criminal. We don't know as we have no specifics beyond the nebulous ‘inappropriate touching’. Lots of Senators and Congressmen are credibly accused of groping on a regular basis. In Italy it is just shy of a spectator sport. It doesn't absolve Duggar from what he did, but let's exercises a little discretion.
Believing that he is as culpable as a sitting president gives you a warped sense of justice and reality. There isn't a Juvenile Hall in the country that would have prosecuted that case. Most sexual assault cases in Juvenile Halls concern actual forcible rape, not fondling sleeping individuals. Usually the authorities are notified when the sibling delivers a child at the local hospital. The reality is that most instances are never reported as a quick trip to the local Planned Parenthood office, the statutory rapists favorite accomplice after the fact, makes ‘the whole thing go away’.
What Duggar did is the type of thing that happens when a male kid is 10 - 16 years old. That doesn't make it right, it doesn't condone it, but if it isn't normal it is at least not rare I am sorry to say. That is one of the reasons why we do not prosecute children in the same manner that we prosecute adults.
Had Duggar raped or murdered a sibling at 14 or 15 he would have been released no later than his 21 birthday. In MOST instances his records would be sealed forever. Even for murder.
I know a few detectives in the Cleveland Police Department. One is in Vice and he has described some of the several cases a year of sibling sexual assault. NONE have been as innocuous as those described as being perpetrated by Mr. Duggar.
In most cases it is a straight up forcible rape of a child by an adolescent male in the family. They almost uniformly end up being pleaded to counseling and ‘community intervention’ and being turned over to DCFS for follow up.
All cases of the type described by the information we have about Duggar are simply turned over to DCFS as the juvenile courts are way too busy with cases of felony assault, armed robbery, battery, attempted murder and murder. Charges are rarely filed and the cases are treated by family services.
It is just the way it is.
What Clinton did to Juanita Broaddrik is a life sentence in several states. As few as twenty years ago it was a capital offense in some!
What he did with Monica Lewinski was also a felony in several states as he engaged in what could be seen as felonious sexual harassment in the workplace. He exercised inordinate power over a subordinate, one barely over 21, for his own sexual gratification. Losing his job was the minimum he should have received. Sexual Harassment cases this egregious have been prosecuted as rape by coercion.
Josh Duggar acted inexcusably more than a decade ago and at the time NO ONE excused it! He told his parents, received councelling and they reported it to the police. That is a damn site more than a majority of people would have ever done. Most would have completely hushed it up and no one would have ever known about it. They certainly would have never gone to the police.
