A grateful Virginia mother has taken to Facebook to thank a white state trooper who helped her black son with a flat tire late at night - and her post has since been shared more than 20,000 times. Dr Nada Owusu wrote that her son Joseph, a Virginia Tech student, was on his way home from school last Thursday when his back tire blew out 'in the middle of nowhere'. She said her 20-year-old son was then approached by Virginia State Trooper Matt Okes, who she noted didn't ask Joseph if the Mercedes was stolen but instead 'got on his knees to replace his tire.' When he realized the tire was stuck, Okes stayed with Joseph for hours until both the student's parents and AAA arrived to help, Owusu wrote. And as they waited Okes made sure to shine the lights of his cruiser on Joseph's car to help warn oncoming trucks and other vehicles, according to WTVR. Owusu, a pediatrician who emigrated from Ghana and now works in Danville, Virginia, called Okes 'our hero.' She said the trooper even drove behind the family after they returned to the road. The post has since gone viral, even catching the attention of television host Montel Williams, who told Owusu he was grateful she had shared Okes act of heroic kindness with the world. 'Too often we look at very specific instances where police miss the mark,' he wrote.

Immigrant. So her son was probably respectful towards the cops. Only native Blacks have these problems. Immigrant Blacks run circles around them, and don't whine about racism. I know Blacks from Nigeria and Trinidad who came to my town 20 years ago and now are among its biggest employers. They someone did it despite White Privilege.
I see that the story is in the Daily Mail. There does not look like the story has been covered here.
They probably know what real oppression is firsthand and realize that America is paradise compared to their home country.
A Virginia Tech student? I'd bet he didn't say 'mofo' once, but spoke good English and was respectful, instead of gibbering ghetto slang with a chip on his shoulder. If he had a hat, I'd bet it was on with the front to the front.

I have a family living next to me that emigrated from Ghana also, they are hard working, both in the medical field, have 3 kids they are raising and the oldest is now in college. I also have “American” blacks living on the other side, can’t/won’t take care of their yard, our HOA put their house in pre-forclosure last year for being in arrears with their annual fees and I believe they run(an illegal) babysitting service out of their home from time to time..........the comparison between the 2 families is truly very telling in regards to what people that want to succeed in this country will do versus lazy people that are from this country originally and think they are owed everything. It’s really and interesting observation in human behavior, and a little frustrating at times. The emigrant neighbors are the best I have ever had.

My office was across the street from Marcus Allen’s condo (Raiders and Chiefs); he drove a nifty red Ferrari, and would get pulled over somewhat regularly by the po-lice.

British news outlets do a better job on most issues than our domestic sources do.
Brits picked this up a few hours ago. CBS had it a day ago, and local Virginia tv stations had it two days ago.
Looks can be deceiving. My DIL was in a Home Depot parking lot and a very clean cut, well dressed black guy approached her as she was putting items in the trunk of her convertible car. He said, “let me take that cart for you”. Then it got scary, she got in the car and so did he, ordered her to drive. Long story, but she survived by gunning the car to the front of the store and screamed for help. Then it got more interesting. The guy had an arrest record a mile long, however, he was a great looking guy.
Like he’s going to ask the driver if the car is stolen. Duh, yeah, i stole the car. The cop already ran the plate and knew it wasn’t reported stolen. Microagression! It is racist for that woman to assume a cop would ask that.
Non-story re black/white thing.
