Team owners voted to move the snap point back on Tuesday in an effort to make the game more challenging. They also approved changes to rules for two-point conversions.
NFL owners voted Tuesday to move back extra-point kicks from the 2-yard line to the 15, as well as to allow defensive players to score on turnovers during a two-point conversion attempt.
The move aimed to make the game more challenging, the Associated Press reported. According to an NFL report, extra-point kickers were successful 99.6% of the time last season, missing just five attempts out of 1,267.
Play will also now continue after a turnover during a two-point conversion attempt, the AP reported. A teams defense may now score two points for returning the ball to the opposite end zone. Previously, the play was called dead if possession changed during a two-point conversion attempt.

Extra point kick was actually at the 3 yard line before the rule change rather than the 2 yard line.
It remains at the 3 yard line in high school and college.
The 2 point try is actually from the 3 yard line rather than the 2 yard line.
Yep, like watching free throws in bb.
As if a kicker's career point total is all that important. I mean, who really cares? I just want to watch an exciting football game.
Get rid of the PAT and make fgs worth one point. That will speed the game up, get rid of a tedious play, and force teams to go more for more tds rather than playing for fgs.
or make the uprights 6 feet apart. That would challenge the kicker’s accuracy.
Another thing they could have done is adopt the rugby rule for conversion kicks, which is to require that the kick be taken straight back from the point where the touchdown was scored. This could mean kicks from near the sidelines.
The actual action in a football game is around sixteen minutes. The rest is commercials, replay’s, guys just wandering around ...
30 yard line.
Those five yards make a big difference on exciting kick returns.
Baseball (NL) is the “Perfect Game”
Football has serious issues and is warped.
A drop-kick from the sideline through 2 yard goal posts, yeah that’s no sure thing.
To really ratchet the excitement, defenders are given tire-knockers ...
“They need to move the kick-off point back to where it was.”
No touchback. Kick it out of the end zone ball is a spotted at the 50.
Make things even more interesting. Execute the lowest scoring PAT kicker by flamethrower at the end of the season.
I’d pay extra for that.
If you have a kicker that can do that, can’t they just keep doing it over and over again? Talk about boring...
Raise the goal at least two feet. I'm pretty sure the guy that invented the game never imagined 7 foot tall monsters simply dropping the ball through the goal. Wasn't the game originally designed for 8 yr olds?
Interesting proposition.
I like it! I’ve never liked a pitcher walking a batter.
Pitch to him. Kick to him. Stop pussyfooting.
There’s something wrong with running out the clock too: hiking the ball and the QB takes a knee? That’s getting cute.
Again, this is where the defenders’ tire-knockers make their appearance.
So it’s now essentially a 33-yard field goal kick, of which kickers succeed 93% of the time. YAWN.
Make it a real challenge - take some air out of the ball.
