Team owners voted to move the snap point back on Tuesday in an effort to make the game more challenging. They also approved changes to rules for two-point conversions.
NFL owners voted Tuesday to move back extra-point kicks from the 2-yard line to the 15, as well as to allow defensive players to score on turnovers during a two-point conversion attempt.
The move aimed to make the game more challenging, the Associated Press reported. According to an NFL report, extra-point kickers were successful 99.6% of the time last season, missing just five attempts out of 1,267.
Play will also now continue after a turnover during a two-point conversion attempt, the AP reported. A teams defense may now score two points for returning the ball to the opposite end zone. Previously, the play was called dead if possession changed during a two-point conversion attempt.

Ping.
Bring back the “drop kick!”
If the ball goes thru the uprights on the kickoff that should be three points.
That change needed to be done. It still will almost be an automatic point.
I wonder when the last time a drop kick was made, of even tried?
The rule was changed to encourage more 2 point conversion attempts.
Doug Flutie did one for the Pats in his last regular season game several years ago. It was the first in decades.

They need to move the kick-off point back to where it was.
So the extra point will be the distance of a 33 yard field goal. I think kickers make about 90% of field goals from that distance. The extra point will not be virtually automatic anymore, but will still be made the vast majority of the time.
In baseball, the great Mariano Rivera saved about 90% of the games he appeared in as a relief pitcher. Him appearing did not make it an automatic save, but Yankee fans saw him do the job 90% of the time. The extra point will still be as likely as Mariano Rivera saving a game. There will be occasional failures, but kickers will still make it the vast majority of the time.
Agreed, back to the 20, wasn't it?
it’s still legal...
I think there should be a post in the middle of the field goal, and if the kicker hits it, there is an another extra point.
I agree completely and am looking forward to how it plays out once implemented.
Right you are. And I don't think this new rule will change things much. The proposal I like best: Make a touchdown worth 7 points. Then run or pass from the 2-yard line for one extra point. No more PAT kicks at all.
Drop kick me, Jesus through the goal posts of life
End over end, neither left nor to right
Straight through the heart of them righteous uprights!
I think we will see more blocked field goals as well...
Kicking from the two yard line is different than kicking from the 15 yard line...
The angle of the kick is different....
At two yards the ball gets kicked at a higher angle to get over the defense arms...
At 15 yards it more of a kick for distance...
Do away with the extra-point kick altogether. Play football and get it in from the five.
