You might want to hold onto your money until you read some reviews. I am reading internet scuttlebutt that the new Mad Max movie is a feminist movie disguised as an action flick. Information is still sketchy as the movie has not yet been released. One DUmmie saw a full screening and posted how delighted he/she was that the movie was feminist as well as blamed men and the 1% for the collapse of society. (I won't post the link but you can find it easily enough. It is a newer post.)
I read elsewhere that the director or producer (can't recall which) declared himself a proud feminist. He brought in the author of the Vagina Monologues as an advisor on the film. Seriously, you cannot make this stuff up. Or at least I can't.
I was going to write that’s what my sister said! And everyone else. The entire theater was silent.
Dam. I just wasn’t up to a deep movie at the time but am looking forward to watching it alone, to tell the truth.
Too few carried the burden and still do, for too many.
I think I’ll wait for it to come out on cable to not watch it.
yet another in a very long list of holywood products that I will not consume
it was unreal
I was glued to the screen
kind of a hokey plot, all mad max are, but very entertaining
as far as feminism, I didnt see any of it, but I saw TONS of testosterone
This movie was absolutely phenomenal. The idea that it was some sort of liberal feminist screed is ridiculous. First of all, all of the women are very attractive and hot (most are models). Second, the women start off being antiviral and in end up becoming badass warriors. nothing liberal about those two points. One of the mindless bad guys also becomes a redeemed hero in a great plot twist. And the action is probably the best I’ve ever seen.
So yeah skip the movie because it has hot women in it who kill bad guys.
obviously. you haven’t thought it through
the 0.01% wouldn’t want to collapse society, as they’d lose the power and position they’re accustomed.
it’s the ideologues that’ll gladly ruin western society in an effort to ‘improve the lives of the every day man’... by making themselves wealthy and powerful in the process. of course, this means forcing the top 1-10% to pay for it ... which will force them to leave, moving their businesses (and jobs) to other countries.
there’s a reason the United States has always been against the socialists and commies. their mindset doesn’t work and it’s dangerous on a political scale. there will ALWAYS be winners and losers... and the losers will ALWAYS far exceed the winners.
pandering to the losers by vilifying the winners is exactly what the nazis did to rise to power. the trick is to avoid being painted as a winner once they obtain power
obviously you’ve never listened to interviews with the writers or directors of such movies.
their intention is to drive their agenda via propaganda. your attempt to stay ignorant of their intent won’t say those less mentally capable of seeing it for what it is.
this is how propaganda works.
You might not understand the lingo. LOL
if by ‘oligarchs’ you mean wealthy family businesses that started nearly 100 years ago... then yes. they would have worked with govt agencies along the way.
this will always happen when big govt takes over and jacks up taxes, as govt contracts are the fountain through which the money comes back into society
I watched this last night...it IS visually stunning and action filled.
Max is a supporting role and does little of note in the film. He spends the first 25-30 minutes captive and helpless...often by luck or fembot assistance escaping harm. Hardy doesnt even have the opportunity to display a character one can compare to Gibson’s.
Theron’s wast THE main character, the protagonist, the hero.
It should have been called Mad Furiosa
Same exact reaction last night...uncanny...kind of a numb atmosphere...
The movie is AWESOME. Basically somebody explained to George that the best 20 minutes in Mad Max history is the truck chase at the end of 2, so he decided to do THAT for 2 hours. Yeah there’s the occasional pause for plot and stuff, but basically it’s a rigged out semi being chased by crazy people.
Exactly! Naked giant chases little people. What depth! What meaning!
Why would I listen to an interview of some movie director? I know their intent, I just don’t care. Either it’s a decent movie, or it isn’t.
Aeon Flux was pretty bad.
I think that’s why it fell down the memory hole.
I agree! I'll ask him. Stand by for a pm! Best, Bill
Glorious Goya!
We watched it last night. It was one of the worst movies I’ve seen since elysium. The only reason for seeing both was because they were part of a triple feature at the movies. We would have gone home if max max was the last one, which was the only good movie out of the bunch (Furious 7). That movie was non stop adrenaline all the way through.
Did you see it? It’s a terrific non stop action film.
