The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
Now that its rained Im not sure what to do with myself this weekend

Enjoy the respite? LOL
I have a one speed KRups bean grinder handy ) .. Pulverizes pretty good.. I may try and grind a couple jalapeños and use it on the snails. :-)
Happy Gardening!!!
A can containing beer, placed at soil level will attract snails and slugs.
They are attracted by the odor , get drunk, and drown provided the liquid is deep enough..
I just had a thought. What if several mature trees suddenly wound up the council member’s yards? Wouldn’t that be justice? LOL
That sounds like it would work. LOL
Hmmmmmm. No.. The snails will have to pry the cold Heinie from my hands.. Altho . sometimes ya need to let the bad guy think he wins.. So he can drown in his victory.
I just want to stuff some peppers. Oh vell .
Beer Beer and more Beer - the little drunkards can’t resist it and they drown happy deaths in the beer filled tuna can that is level with the ground. Easier than grinding up peppers. LOL
Of course, you have to dump them or you have a stinky mess.
Very attractive. Add a blue ribbon for your 4th of July celebration. LOL
LOL. Me too. I have used up all the excuses for frost, and was forced to get busy this week. LOL
This is the pizza dough, resting, waiting for me to roll it out. Each little roll weighs 5 oz. I probably want 2 oz each for a serving, but this will work for a bit, and I can experiment a few different ways.
Notice the flecks of spices and herbs. Most of those are out of the garden today.
Gotta love that next-year hold over.

FYI, Walmart has New Zealand Spinach in their yellow and orange 50 cent seed packets.
Big storm came through today so guess the garden was wiped out - again. Loud rushing waterfalls of run off continued half an hour after the rains ended.
I hope we get some blackberries this year! Two seasons in a row with not much to show. That summer drought a couple of years back really set them back.
Okay could you give some more details on Kefir? Where did you get the grains, and how do you make your own? I was looking at Walmart to see if I could even find some just to drink, but nada zip nothing, so I will have to make my own or do with out.
I make my yogurt in a crock pot and once a month I buy one 4 oz container for a starter, then just reserve half a cup for the next week’s starter.
Hubby brought me in a pink iris today from my flower bed, and he used a blue wine bottle for a vase. It’s a Bardenheir’s - I bought it for the bottle. It’s a triangle shaped bottle and a deep, dark blue.
Looking forward to seeing your pics.
Salmon salad, Tuna salad. It’s all good to me-but the tuna cans are perfect for the job. LOL
Do you mean that Carolina Reaper was the hottest (2.5 Million scovil units)for only a year ?
Are you buying seed or plants ?
Last I knew , Carolina Reaper from seed required 3 weeks at 72- 92 F ,just to germinate.
Oh no! sympathies to you on your losses. Hail happens so fast and is over with so quick, that there’s not much you can do about it.
No way I'd pay that much for a veg plant. I walked past their $3 ones hoping to scan the $1.50 ones at the grocery store. Of course, the grocery store didn't have anything. Oh, well, have more seeds than any 10 people.
I grow everything from seed...most of my 'super-hots' germinated within two weeks on a heat mat at 86-88 degrees. They have been ubder the lights since germinating in late February. My young plants are gorgeous...they will be outside in their containers come May 20-21, as we 'plant by the signs'.
Round Up and salt are quiet.
LOL!
Sounds wicked!
