You know one thing thats great about the Apple Watch? People often dont realize its a smartwatch. I discovered this while visiting the Normandy American Cemetery at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France when I asked the guard at the security checkpoint if he minded if I kept my Apple Watch on while walking through the metal detector. He didnt seem to notice this wasnt a typical watch, one that mostly shows you a black display instead of the actual time, and he let me pass through without putting the device into the plastic tray.
But the Apple Watch, of course, really does do a lot more than any old wristwatch and as Ill explain below, the device has so far really changed the way Ive been using my iPhone. Dont get me wrong, the Apple Watch isnt ever going to replace the iPhone however, it will make sure that you no longer have to pull the device out of your pocket for every single notification you receive.
The Watch isnt something I really need, but its definitely something I started appreciating having around from the moment I first took it out of the box and started wearing it. And yes, before you have to ask, you absolutely need the iPhone to use the Watch as a smartwatch. And you need the iPhone for everything else the Watch cant do.

I will not take advice from a person who does not know the difference between a purchase and an investment.
“it is not a loan, it is an opportunity...”
“it is not a tax, it is a contribution....”
“it is not a tax increase, it is paying your fair share....”
I stopped when I saw it was from BGR.
Those guys are as credible as Gizmodo.
Thanks. I had no idea who they are. Now I know not to waste my time reading their junk.
This is why I think that the Apple Watch will be very successful. It will likely prove to be a much more ergonimically correct front-end to the iPhone for many iPhone users.
I stopped reading at If youre willing to invest in one.

Like those fools back in the 1980s who thought they were “investing” in the first personal computers for their office staffs. Those fools thought they were making an investment in productivity when they were actually simply making a purchase.
Some competitors who were advised to follow the lead of these folks (who didn’t know the difference between an investment and a purchase) chose not to take that advice and stuck with their usual ways of doing business. Of course those folks are long gone from the business scene.
cost $10 and far superior to the crappy apple watch
Sell AAPL Apple and buy Casio
I can’t even learn how to use my moto g. An Apple “smart watch”, or a “smarter than I am watch”, is not in my future.
I wish I could figure out how to get my phone to keep beeping or something when I miss a call or have a voice mail or a text. It will beep once and that’s it.
My wife still has her old flip phone. If she misses a call or has a voice mail it “notifies” her until she acknowledges it. Know what else she can do with that old flip phone? She can actually call people. Even those how have smart phones.
I like my Casio Ironman with the stopwatch, alarms, compass and temperature sensor in it. $40.
Think about the iWatch what you will, this is just plain stupid. A typical watch mostly shows you a black display? Mine just shows me the time of day. Like most typical watches. And the drama! Metal detector. Guards. Saved by the iWatch from a life or death situation! Sheesh.
Nice false comparison. Thanks.
With technology changing all the time it will likely obsolete in 3-5 years.

My girlfriend just called me at work to tell me the Apple Watch Sport in Space Gray with black strap I bought for her just arrived. She’s waiting for me to get home to open it.
I ordered it for her at three minutes past midnight on April 10th and they were already sold out, as they were on the black stainless steel Apple Watch I ordered for myself one minute earlier. My girlfriend’s watch had a listed delivery date of between May 13-27, so obviously Apple beat that. Mine is still showing a June delivery date.
BGR usually has excellent, credible reviews of technology. You are only saying that because this review is of an Apple product. It's you who has little credibility on these threads.
No, because BGR is sensationalist, posts tons of click-bait, and has horrible writers.
This one is just part of that train of mediocre articles.
Sorry to disappoint your narrative.
Mine just arrived yesterday. About a week earlier than projected. Black on black aluminum sport watch. I’m loving it.
These things are going to change the way people think about portable/carry-able/wearable devices. It’s going to be a big deal. Those that think it’s all just about a watch are simply missing the point. They must also think a smart phone is only a telephone.
