CHANGSHA, China (AP) A Chinese construction company is claiming to be the worlds fastest builder after erecting a 57-story skyscraper in 19 working days in central China.
The Broad Sustainable Building Co. put up the rectangular, glass-and-steel Mini Sky City in the Hunan provincial capital of Changsha using a modular method, assembling three floors per day, company vice president Xiao Changgeng said.

If it stays up for 20 its a win.
The amazing thing is that it will fall down in much less time!
Yeah....I’d feel safer in the Twin Towers on 9-11.
I don’t want to be in it....
Death trap.
Modular steel frame construction.
What a thing of beauty!
The steel framing is probably solid enough, because it was probably all pre-fabbed and put together one story at a time. I’d be concerned about things like how warm it is or how insulated from surrounding sound in other departments and other such niceties.
My 16 month grandson puts up Lego block towers as well; just like the Chinese build buildings.
They are pretty and he likes to knock them down quickly as well.
If it encounters no major problems, this builder is an ace.
That works out to 3 stories a day, far behind Hillary's average of 9.
Looked like some pretty beefy steel frame construction not much different than traditional with the exception of added cross members that cut down extra cross brace welding/riveting time.
I think some of the comments (not yours) here are just automatic knee jerk reactions that anything China builds is cheap crap. Look at some of the stuff our Unions produce, and at a much higher cost.
What are those dark squares? Did they forgot to place a window there?
Will it collapse in 19 seconds in the next earthquake?
What a concept! Build them sideways,
then stand them up. Those crafty Chinese...
You can see the quality workmanship and design in the building. More photos here.
