Florida teen recovering after Water moccasin bite to his face

A Florida teenager is recovering after being bitten in the face by a water moccasin.

The bite happened last Saturday, according to investigators with Florida Fish and Wildlife, two days after Austin Hatfield, 18, captured it in his girlfriend's yard in Wimauma.

The grown ups and parents would always tell us that they would leave our swimming area in creeks and rivers and lakes, and bayous if we beat the water with sticks and our hands, parents lied a lot back then.

When you are on the rope swing and you see them right underneath you after half an hour of dropping into the water, and playing around, you realize that nothing chases them away.

I wonder what our helmet wearing suburban helicopter parents tell their kids today, about running off the water moccasins and snapping turtles to swim in the bayous and rivers?
