I have the same quarrel with two self-described "lesbian" writers, Melinda Selmys and Eve Tushnet, who write pro-chastity articles in the religious press. Selmys is married and the mother of six; Tushnet is single and celibate. But they both call themselves "lesbians," when the better term, I think, would be "same-sex attracted".
I don’t like to see people putting down happily-married man-woman couples. It looks like they’ve put some effort into living lives guided by traditional Christian virtue ethics. I think that’s admirable.

okay, let’s say your spouse publicly proclaims to be gay, but also claims to be chaste regarding said gaiety...you, as the spouse, would not be concerned about the consequences of his/her possible lying...?

No, I wouldn't. That's assuming my husband were a trustworthy person. If he were not, then it doesn't matter what his "orientation" is: there's no telling whether he's schtupping Democrats, donkeys or donuts. Of any gender.

Well, what he’s saying would actually be true for most faithful husbands anyways, be honest, how many guys find other women more attractive than their wives? I would say that plenty do, but for me anyway, a quick glance is probably what you’ll get, and nothing further.

There is no definitive test for who someone is sexually attracted to, so anyone is vulnerable to be fooled in that sense.
Mom, Jonty is referencing the theory that a woman is genetically predisposed to seek out the strongest male to father her baby (Alpha male) and yet also to seek out the male most likely to protect and provide for her baby and not run off (Beta male).
