Gave up cable after hurricane Gustav, and haven’t missed it since.
Watching baseball. Guess that would be AB.
Yes, I’ve been watching.
It has some problems - the main one being you can’t tell from the story whether they are doing some kind of flash-back, or if this is real time.
But there have only been two episodes so far - I am not sure that even with ACTS they can come up with ten more episodes.
It seems OK... but I recently watched Killing Jesus on Youboob and it was much, much better.
I haven’t yet. Is it any good?
Yes. I think they’re doing a pretty good job (Mary at the empty tomb was must see TV for me). Tonight will have Pentecost - we’ll see how they handle that.
It is not too bad.
It’s actually very good!
Much better than O’Reilly’s “Killing Jesus”.
Gotta miss it tonight, with too much class prep to do.
Acts 2 (ESV)
The Coming of the Holy Spirit
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. And they were amazed and astonished, saying, Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabianswe hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God. And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, What does this mean? But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine.
So far, very interesting.
I’ve been watching it...it’s pretty good.
To me it was almost unrecognizable as the Book of Acts.
Reasonably good from what I’ve seen.
For the most part, it is fairly accurate. This may be more information than many have ever received concerning the Bible. Hopefully it will encourage them to want to learn more.
I like it.
Perhaps it was to save on casting costs, but the numbers of Apostles and followers were always kept at the minimum. The 70 were cut to twelve when the spirit of the holy ghost was conferred, as were the 500 who witness Jesus badly ascension to heaven were cut to the original 12. Mary was the only one of the three women who survived the cutting to go the tomb to finish the burial preparations and only goes in after the men. . . Did any one actually READ the Gospels before writing this TV treatment?
The Jesus portrayal seems OK, but the wounds in the hands are in the wrong place, going with the artistic placement rather than the anatomically correct placement we know from the Shroud of Turin. . . although they gave attention to the Shroud in the tomb scene. . . but not the head cloth, the Sudarium of Oviedo.
Jesus' Biblical quotes seemed pretty good. . . but the side plots are a bit distracting, and make things confusing. They are assiduously avoiding saying that Jesus and God are one and the same.
There something about the soundtrack music I don’t like. I think it would have been more interesting if it didn’t sound so modern.
