What do you think of this? Despicable and outrageous, or just the school and police doing their duty?:
"On March 24, cannabis oil activist Shona Bandas life was flipped upside-down after her son was taken from her by the State of Kansas. The ordeal started when counselors at her 11-year-old sons school conducted a drug education class. Her son, who had previously lived in Colorado for a period of time, disagreed with some of the anti-pot points that were being made by school officials."
The school called the police. Coppers showed up at Shonas home, searched everything, and ended up finding two ounces of cannabis oil which she uses to treat her Crohns disease. The result? She could lose her child her ex has already been granted temporary custody of her son and Shona faces the battle of her life.
If this horrendous story doesnt convince you that marijuana should be legalized, I dont know what will. Its absolutely insane that Shona and many others like her are treated like psychopathic mass murderers, just because they use cannabis to treat an illness and because they believe others should be allowed to do the same.

It is always the vocal who will try and look as if they are the majority. Always been like that and always will be.
My money is on this being an advocacy piece, with some very important parts of the story being left out.
The libertarian overreach on this stuff is what agitated me about John Stossel last night.
After he got done claiming that there is no war on Christianity and proclaiming that things are better for Christians under Obama than they’ve ever been before, he moved on to attacking Christians for states that don’t sell alcohol on Sunday. BTW he also wants us to know that he doesn’t appreciate being assaulted by the word “God” on our money.
So here is the challenge if you are up to it. Give your interpretation of his statement.
My thoughts too
She should have kept her pot usage secret from her child. Does her child know all the names of her prescription drugs or does he just know about the pot?
She should have stayed in Colorado or moved to a State where pot is legal.
The story doesn’t show any such thing, except that the libertarian meme of states rights is just a strategy no different than those used by other leftists
I stopped watching Stossel, but did he really say that about our money?
1997 is a long time to be a liberal troll here and survive. Im just sayin’.
But anyway, back to the issue at hand. Aren’t you proud of the effort to roll up this ring? An 11 year old said something suspect in a classroom discussion. And an alert teacher and the police worked hand in hand to quickly roll up the dangerous family. I think this is America as it was founded to be.
This activist had no problem teaching her son all about pot...but she didnt teach him when to keep his mouth shut.
She moved from a medical pot state to a state where possession is illegal.
She kept illegal oil in her house with a child present.
Self inflicted.
> I would be for decriminalization as opposed to legalization.
To an extent maybe I could agree with that but only on marijuana not hard drugs. Treat it similar to DUI or DWI if an auto acvident is involved and its a factor.
Most of the Freepers on this thread shouting Jawohl! Der Staat ist Richtig! haven't a clue that if the Stasi tossed their house, they'd find a number of serious crimes...
The conservative and constitutional position is that the Federal government under Sec 1, Art 8 and the 10th Amendment doesn't have the power to control that item, whatever it is if it isn't listed in specifically.
Personally, I live in a state with dry counties and don't want alcohol sold in some areas. I sure don't want drugs sold legally.
But that is up to the States. Not the fed-gov.

if pot.is a prescription drug .. then is this a case of illegal abuse of prescription drugs?
Or are you saying all drugs should be available at will and no prescription required?
Your libertarian cover does not fly for right to pot as a drugs as personal entertainment unless it apply to any to all drugs
tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, heroin, prescription drugs like Oxycontin, Quaalude Valium ect., ect.
Your libertarian argument for pot, to be valid would need to be that you have the right to access and use all at will
...your argument should be "burn the prescription pads and kill the pharmacist that oppresses us from our high"or else you're a giant hypocrite
Give it a rest, n00b.
Ken H a "left wing stalker"?
Oh, please. I was present at the burial (and some few resurrections) of most, if not all the original FR left wing stalkers.
Why don't you name a few of them for us, n00b?
Yeah. He claimed there was nothing about God on our money till he was 10 years old which would have been in the late 50s.
He also bashed the Puritans for coming here and imposing their law. He didn’t mention the fact that they imposed their law on themselves because there was no one else to impose them on.
He claims “blue laws” were the result of churches imposing their will on government. In reality is was a much more Christian society wanting those laws. I knew an old lady who ran a party store she and her husband had owned since 1038. She told me that the practice of wrapping single bottles of alcohol in a brown paper sack was pretty standard practice anyway. She said her minister politely asked she and her husband to do so and they did.
The idiot’s show will probably rerun this evening.
I agree.
The Founding Fathers would be high-fiving, especially about the "asset forfeiture" stuff, considering that one of the bigger reasons they were miffed was the British vice-admiralty courts...
Oh, wait...
States’ Rights is a meme no different from liberal strategy?
I hope that I misunderstood or misinterpreted your comment.
The concept of States’ Rights is not a meme. It is a constitutional principle embodied in the 10th Amendment. It is the rosetta stone with which the courts should be interpreting the Constitution.
Which gives the police the authority to conduct a search?”
Look...if you bothered to find an article on a “neutral” news site...you would have already answered your own questions.
The school didnt inform the police....they called childrens services after the young blabber mouth told everyone in the room that his mom uses cannabis.
Children services interviewed him and confirmed there ws drug use in the home.
Children services informed the police and they responded to the home.
The activist insisted on a search warrant (a good thing) and it took three hours to get one.
In a search of the home the cops found the oil...which is illegal to possess in the state.
This was entirely self inflicted.
She moved from a medical pot state to a state where possession is illegal.
She failed to instruct her son to keep his mouth shut.
She was in possession of a controlled substance.
Three strikes.
I am personally agnostic on the matter as I have smoked pot from time to time over the years....
But I would never teach my children that it's ok to use pot or give them the slightest hint that I had.
