The Apple Watch Launch is a Brand-damaging Botch Job

It really is amateur hour at Apple. The tech giant’s first major product line launch in years has gone badly wrong, with the original in-store sales date scrapped, and no word of when the Apple Watch will actually go on sale for people to, you know, buy.

Sales predictions, and online pre-order numbers look great, but that’s about the only thing that’s good about the launch of the first new product line to come from Apple under Tim Cook’s stewardship. Frankly, everything else associated with the launch has been a balls up from start to finish.

Here’s a product that the Cupertino-based company has described as its most personal yet. It’s so personal, that the only way you can buy it is online. The least personal shopping experience there is.

Rush explained the problems with the watch manufacture today. They have not been able to make the flexible OLED display so it will maintain color purity. Then, they are having trouble making what is called the Taptic Engine. It will tap your skin to reflect your heartbeat or, if you’re to turn left, if you’re walking someplace and the map is on with directions, a left part of the wrist will tap.

They will work out the manufacture problems and then people will be sporting them like status symbols with some costing as high as $25,000. I can see the rich Leftie with his high end watch pounding his fist on the table with expletives about their hatred of those greedy rich who don’t want to be taxed.

Every time I hear of Apple’s failure I wish I failed my way to a trillion dollar company.

You obviously don’t know your history. “Too big to fail”. The list is endless. GM. Montgomery Ward. IBM. Lehman Brothers Holdings. MCI WorldCom. Enron. Canseco. CIT. PG&E.

Apple could soon be next. If they don’t get their portfolio expanded.

Ridiculous, yes.

Ping-worthy? Not so much. Just the typical pile of crap-talk from a pseudo-tech whore looking for blog page hits.

Don’t bother.

You need to talk to dennisw. He's been predicting Apple's imminent demise and stock collapse for more years than you've been a member. And I don't think you want to be horning in on his territory.

LOL

Years ago when Steve was in charge their portfolio was more than just a damned phone. I think you need a lesson in tech failure and overreliance on a single product.

If you’re so arrogant, invest in Apple and keep you stocks until 2020. Go ahead. Prove me wrong.

The Apple Watch is Already Wiping the Floor with the Entire Smartwatch Market
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3280021/posts

he Apple Watch is on fire: KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimates that Apple’s debut smartwatch has sold more than 2.3 million units since preorders opened, MacRumors reports.

Apple hasn’t released any sales data on Apple Watch sales, and it most likely won’t until the company’s quarterly earnings report. But this 2.3 million figure echoes what others have estimated — the research company Slice believes there were about 1 million US preorders on launch day, for example.

Ming-Chi Kuo has a good track record on Apple: He was spot on with his predictions about the iPhone 5S, for example. If Kuo’s figures are correct, Apple has — in a stroke — cornered the entire smartwatch market.

The Apple Watch’s strong sales are bad news for Google and its Android Wear smartwatch operating system OS. According to Canalys, devices using Android Wear sold 720,000 units in 2014. Slice’s figures suggested Apple was able to easily breeze past this figure in a single day. In doing so, Apple took away Google’s one historical advantage, which Business Insider explained in a previous story:

The iPhone has always — with some truth — been considered the “rich man’s phone.” Apple customers tend to be better off than Android users and spend more on apps and in-app purchases. Accordingly, ad rates on iOS, Apple’s operating system, are higher than on Google’s OS.

This strong push is immediately going to make Apple’s Watch OS an extremely attractive platform for developers looking to move into wearables, especially when coupled with the purchasing power of Apple consumers. And as this app ecosystem develops, it will make the Apple Watch even more attractive compared with other smartwatches, consolidating Apple’s position further still.

Apple has a winner! In just ONE WEEKEND Apple sold more units than ALL OTHER manufacturers combined — for the entire year, in 2014!
And NOW ... Apple has doubled their first weekend’s sales!

CRApple’s cash reserve (150 billion +) is useless to them and the CRApple stock investors because most of it sits outside the US. Sits off shore///// The cheap bastards (liberals) like Tim Cook could bring it home and whittle it down via dividend payouts. But are too cheap to pay US taxes on it. So eff Apple and the greedy homo-clique, homo-elitists that run it.

Its an hilarious situation actually! Rush is getting disgusted by these gay shenanigans and is going to get rid of all his CRApple equipments. You heard it here first! He has been embarrassed for years by the homo-hijinks over there and has reached his breaking point.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the scoop on Rush, I kinda wondered when that would happen.

Hey ya got a noob here trashing Apple, so it’s great to see that you’re still in good form! Never fear, for Apple crash predictions, you’re still my go-to guy.

Cheers,
Dayglored

Every day the Windows 8/Android using Bo Snerdly (James Golden) razzes Rush over him still being married to CRApple devices and computers. The breaking point is near and look for Rush to sheepishly disown all his *embarrassing* and juvenile fanboi propagandizing for that Cupertino freak show. CRApple is in his rear view mirror and its just a matter of when Rush gets the courage to make the final break over the air.

Why does anyone need a watch that does what their phone can do?

I can scuba dive with my Citizen Eco Drive.

Not so with the watch that the proud faggot Tim Cook has perpetrated on Apple stock holders.

LOL

Here’s a product that the Cupertino-based company has described as its most personal yet. It’s so personal, that the only way you can buy it is online. The least personal shopping experience there is.

No, that claim is false. Apple is making appointments for people to actually try on the Apple Watch in store. . . and they can pre-order them at the Apple Store. This article is another FUD article showing they really don't know what they are talking about.

This guy is claiming that 2.3 million pre-sales in less than one hour (1.2 million in the USA alone, and it was offered for pre-order in nine countries at the same time including China so that 2.3 million is probably a LOW estimate) is a FLOP? At a $435 average selling price (and some analysts are claiming $702), that is $1 BILLION in revenue in the FIRST HOUR! If the other analysts are correct, it's $1.6 BILLION in under an hour. Some Botch job!

Apple did not expect that kind of demand in that short of a time. They've gotten more pre-orders since that first hour in the week since it went on pre-order sale.

In store try-ons are by appointment only. . . and the appointments are in 15 minute blocks. Those are limited in available time slots. In addition, no one has said that Apple has NOT kept back an inventory of Apple Watches for first day appointment sales at their stores. I don't know that they have or have not. . . but articles like this one claimed the same thing when pre-sale orders for the last iPhones out sold expectations. They too claimed there would be none available for opening day. . . but Apple had more than enough on hand for opening day and the next and the next. . . and so on. There were always some iPhones delivered to the retail stores each day. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple doesn't have enough Apple Watches on hand for each of its Apple Retail Stores for at least the first weekend and the time slots with appointments.

With 435 Retail Stores, open 10 hours a day for 3 days of the weekend, thats 40 fifteen minute time slots per day, or 120 per weekend. . . and perhaps four employees at each store trained to show the Apple Watch. So each store could see 480 customers.

Apple has been limiting customers to two watches per sale. That's 960 Apple Watches per store per weekend. . . they'd need a mix of models. . . so lets say they need twice that to assure coverage. 1,920, round up to 2000 per store times 435 stores. That's just 870,000 Apple Watches to cover every Apple store. That's certainly do-able for Apple's manufacturing and supply chain, especially if they planned for it in advance and Apple usually does extremely good planning.

The 2.3 million units sold is from several sources.

Not one of them is from Apple.

It’s funny, I almost thought it would go the other way, you know... Tim Cook calls up Rush and asks him to please stop using Apple products because it’s embarrassing to Tim that an arch-conservative anti-gay commentator is using Apple gear...
