Hoping the best for my team, the Detroit Red Wings. I also like the New York Rangers. There seem to be some very interesting matchups in the first round like Ottawa vs Montreal and Winnipeg versus Anaheim.
Have tickets for Round 1 Game 2 Predators vs Blackhawks!
Son’s Predators jersey arrived via UPS Thursday afternoon.
We’re Ready for Some Playoff Hockey!
Alright, signing in. Thank you and thank you for doing this. I did my own monologue in one of the last hockey threads on the games of the last few days because that was much like the playoffs: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3261588/posts
Ottawa closed with a flurry, conceivably, they could take out Montreal.
Winnipeg looks like a dangerous team, Anaheim is of course, formidable, the 2nd best record and they have played well all year, Ducks in 6, maybe the Jets have a chance.
Blackhawks vs. the Predators, Predators are on a 6 game losing streak but the Blackhawks have lost their last 4. That doesn’t beckon well, seems Nashville really lost a step in the last month.
Flames Canucks, tossup.
Blues Wild, Blues are playing well. Should be a good series.
Grieving that my Beloved Bruins are out. The rest of the East should be happy they’re gone, but I figure the last time they spit the bit, losing a 3-0 series lead to Philly in 2010, they came back the following season and hoisted the Chalice. I will watch less this year but hoping OTT continues dominance of MTL and ends that early. Then I might watch. Rooting for Blues to take it all in spite of questionable goaltending which plagued them in years past.
New hockey fan here.
Go Blues
Time for another tan for Lord Stan - Go Lightning!
The Jets played them close in their games this year but still lost all 3, 2 only by a goal, two in OT/SO. So, this will be interesting. Amazing that by this same graphic, Ottawa defeated Montreal, 3 wins to 1 loss.
Jets, the old Atlanta Thrashers for anyone not aware of that. Thrashers were in the doldrums, the Jets have been a force since moving though I think they missed out last year, they were much improved.
I wouldn't take the Jets lightly.
Serious question: are the NHL brackets set no matter who wins the first round like the NCAA basketball tournament or are they reseeded like the NFL where if the lowest seed upsets in the first round they have to play the highest seed remaining?
Freepers should like hockey, because it’s the only pro sport where individual players are held directly accountable for their actions - commit an infraction, YOU are out of the game temporarily in the penalty box. Every other sport, the whole team is “penalized”.
That said, go Flames and kick those sorry Vancouver asses!
Well, it was a nail biter for both the Pens & Wings making the Playoffs. Unfortunately, the way the PLAYOFFS are organized now, we won’t be having another Pens v Wings CUP FINAL - BUMMER!
I see there is a BRACKETS COMPETITION at the NHL website this year. I filled out my brackets but when I log out & go back to ‘my brackets’, my picks are all gone and I have to start all over again - anybody having that problem too? Maybe I’m doing something wrong - nah - I’m never wrong.
Anyhow, it’s good to be back with all y’all in the PLAYOFFS of THE BEST SPECTATOR SPORT EVER! Thanks for running the thread again Airborne!!
Lightning in five.
Detroit, you’ll have to watch David Price (whom you stole from Tampa Bay as well, but I digress) to obtain any athletic sense of self-esteem.
Congratulations to Jamie Benn for winning the Art Ross Trophy.
Y’all better watch out for the Stars next year.
Please add me, thank you
Hi! Favorite team Avs eliminated, second favorite and hometown team, as in I can see players’ homes from mine, Stanley cup reigning -— for a bit longer -— champions, Kings, also eliminated.
So, GO DUCKS!!! Lol!
Welcome to the “Hockey Ping List”!
Enjoy the playoffs!
It is ridiculous that the most important hockey of the year only begins after the snow and ice is melted everywhere except maybe Edmonton. Shorten the season, or start it earlier. Or shrink the playoff pool.
The irony is, I’m a Kings fan.
