This is the "Live Thread" for the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. I will try to keep it as up to date as possible but feel free to add anything either on the Playoffs in general or your favorite team in particular. Just remember to keep it civil.
The Jets played them close in their games this year but still lost all 3, 2 only by a goal, two in OT/SO. So, this will be interesting. Amazing that by this same graphic, Ottawa defeated Montreal, 3 wins to 1 loss.
Jets, the old Atlanta Thrashers for anyone not aware of that. Thrashers were in the doldrums, the Jets have been a force since moving though I think they missed out last year, they were much improved.
I wouldn't take the Jets lightly.
Serious question: are the NHL brackets set no matter who wins the first round like the NCAA basketball tournament or are they reseeded like the NFL where if the lowest seed upsets in the first round they have to play the highest seed remaining?
Freepers should like hockey, because it’s the only pro sport where individual players are held directly accountable for their actions - commit an infraction, YOU are out of the game temporarily in the penalty box. Every other sport, the whole team is “penalized”.
That said, go Flames and kick those sorry Vancouver asses!

I’d read their take on it, it does seem a bit complex.
I had remembered the reseeding which made it difficult to do an NHL pool, but they dumped it and just do a straight bracket. I guess that makes sense because now they initially set the bracket by division (plus conference wild card) rather than by conference. The second round is still primarily by division.
Well, it was a nail biter for both the Pens & Wings making the Playoffs. Unfortunately, the way the PLAYOFFS are organized now, we won’t be having another Pens v Wings CUP FINAL - BUMMER!
I see there is a BRACKETS COMPETITION at the NHL website this year. I filled out my brackets but when I log out & go back to ‘my brackets’, my picks are all gone and I have to start all over again - anybody having that problem too? Maybe I’m doing something wrong - nah - I’m never wrong.
Anyhow, it’s good to be back with all y’all in the PLAYOFFS of THE BEST SPECTATOR SPORT EVER! Thanks for running the thread again Airborne!!
Lightning in five.
Detroit, you’ll have to watch David Price (whom you stole from Tampa Bay as well, but I digress) to obtain any athletic sense of self-esteem.
Congratulations to Jamie Benn for winning the Art Ross Trophy.
Y’all better watch out for the Stars next year.
If Kane is healthy early for 2nd round or part of the first, I think we still have a chance.
Please add me, thank you
"You do dat, you go to de box, you know. Two minutes, by yourself, you know and you feel shame, you know. And den you get free."
Hi! Favorite team Avs eliminated, second favorite and hometown team, as in I can see players’ homes from mine, Stanley cup reigning -— for a bit longer -— champions, Kings, also eliminated.
So, GO DUCKS!!! Lol!
Habs fan here. Still gleeful the Bruins are out on the golf course today :)
No local tee times here either, with those Kings around!
Hockey is the ONLY team sport I love. I really hate basketball the worst, because of the stupid fouling. And all the scoring. It is such a dumb game to me. Hockey’s personal punishments for infractions are the way to go. I agree.
Yeah, teams in poorer divisions have better chances at playoffs.
Welcome to the “Hockey Ping List”!
Enjoy the playoffs!
We need to play at least 2 periods of hockey this week. This slump is hard to watch lately.
I didn’t have a problem filling out my bracket.
Maybe it was their problem . . . 8^)
Try again!
Thanks for reminding me about the bracket challenge. Did mine.
I think you can still change them until the games begin. You have to predict the #s of games in the first set of series. And the # of goals in the SC . And save with your email and pass.
