When military aviation buffs pack into the Marine Corps Beaufort Air Show in South Carolina, they'll be wowed by the Navy's Blue Angels. But a new kind of history will also take flight in the team: a woman in the cockpit. U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Katie Higgins is the first female pilot in the team's 69-year history. Michelle Miller took to the sky to see how Higgins got her wings.

Can you spell G force?
Lt Col. Malachowski completed a three year tour in the number 3 position in the diamond formation. From my personal experience and knowledge of “FiFi” she is an exceptional pilot and officer.
“Sour grapes in the mouth?
Hm?...Let me guess. You didn’t get into medical school because a **girl** had better grades and MCAT scores than you.”
Answer WHAT I SAID. Not some bullshit you made up because you are angry or just stupid.
“All in all, it was the men who didnt have the will to keep up the standards.”
Can’t agree more. And they mouthed bullshit, saluted bullshit and in all ways endorsed bullshit.
I think among other things there is an aggression of purpose that guys bring to endeavor great or small. They create the leading bleeding edge be it in skateboarding or or the deepest darkest science. That alone seems to be hard for women to initiate. Take out that factor and raw intelligence is perhaps orphaned.
My husband writes: A flight demonstration team such as the Blue Angels fly, depending on the position of the diamond formation, with full trim out of the formation. That is the left wingman flies the entire flight with full left trim and perhaps full down trim - so that if the pilot lets go of the control stick, the plane will abruptly roll to the left and downward away from the formation. Likewise the right wing would roll down and to the right. The slot pilot - the one in the back, trims full down,so that the plane will dive away from the formation. That is an extreme amount of pressure (that is force) on a single arm for the entire flight. Trim means that you are holding against the force of wind pressure on the control surface. If you are out of “trim” the pilot has to hold against the wind forces on the control surfaces for as long as the control is out of trim.
That may,or may not,be correct but we need a source. The best source would be a *former* Air Force,Navy or NASA flight surgeon."Former" because an active one may very well feel pressure to give a PC answer...for obvious reasons.
Pit the best guy vs the best gal in any physical competition. You can pit the last of the best guys vs the top gal and they’ll still lose.
The two body designs have different inherent design purposes and functions.
USMC officer articles reported none made it through their latest class.
Not trying to be pissy towards women, just tired of why this isn’t settled because they aren’t going to make it, and their fixation on why their world ends if they can’t do a few things only the best men can do.
They are so angry at their womenhood they just have to be men at all costs.
iq tests are like any one-time static test.
You can score better or worse depending on the time of day you take them. Your brain does certain kinds of tasks better at certain times ofthe day. Depending what is going on in your life any given day can affect concentration and thus, test outcomes.
I once took two IQ tests the same afternoon.
The first was a more or less standard type, and I scored 131. High, but I’m not getting any nosebleeds.
The second was a less common variety on which I scored 167, which would put me into super-genius territory.
The format had me listen to the test giver read a long essay on an obscure topic, in this case the specifics of Greek religion, as opposed to Greek mythology. Cults, priests, sacrifices and all that.
The idea was that if you remembered more of what had been read , you’re more intelligent.
However, I’d just a couple of weeks before read a rather long book on the subject, so the read-aloud essay was pretty much a review on stuff I was already familiar with.
Sadly, I’m not that smart!
FWIW, in Heinlein’s Starship Troopers almost all pilots and Navy officers are female. Supposedly they were found to be better able physically and mentally to handle the specific challenges of that type of combat.
OTOH, unlike the idiotic movie, all troopers of the Mobile Infantry are male.
Great points.
She is a Marine Captain. The Corps does not like to lower standard. The Marines are the only service that still separates boot camp by gender.
btt
Bless that little rascal.
Remind him.. Just stayz away from the ozone holes.. ;-]
T34s are in his dreams tonight or whatever they use these days. Is he still single ? or just married to the Corps. ;-)
The gals on Eastern never looked that good,, never.
Anytime ya got explosives and rockets and ordnance aboard,, its always an adventure.
Ya dont need hair on yur chest to fly em but ..
