Almost everyone had something that freaked them out or downright terrified them when they were kids-- a neighbor's big dog, sleestaks on TV, or the monster in the closet?
Tell your story of what most scared you as a kid.
“Crawling hand” movies. Scared me witless. Of course, my Dad exploited it to the greatest extent possible.
Missing supper - played so hard and long (unsupervised) that calories were a necessity.
Nocturnal visit from Frankenstein.
During the Wizard of Oz, when the talking tree came on, I freaked and ran out of the living room. Couldn’t watch the rest until I knew that part was over.
Not afraid of much after about 4, but was afraid the escalator would flatten out (like in the cartoons?).
I'm not kidding, I lived in central Indiana and I was terrified of Jaws getting me. After I saw the movie, I didn't even want to get in the bathtub for a while. Then the fear sort-of morphed into a fear of any hole with water in it. And it wasn't just childhood, I carried that around for years. If it was full of water and I couldn't see the bottom, I wouldn't go near it. Even to this day when I water ski or anything like that, I have to force myself. And yes, everyone completely makes fun of me.
I also thought there was a ghost living in the storage room connected to my attic bedroom when I was young.
Once in a while, I receive a text from my oldest friend that says "Bruce Dern is a dick!" I don't have to ask what's on television. Before we had texting, the same message used to be delivered via voice message / answering machine.
I told my friend that if I outlive him, I'm going to work this subject into his obituary. He heartily concurs.
I used to dream about falling and always landed on my feet. I also dreamed I could fly. Flew over our house and saw it from above. Love to fly. With a sane pilot.
After I saw jaws I didn’t go to the beach for 20 years. I hate sand. I did touch a baby shark off Emerald Isle, NC. Hope to move back soon.
My memory must be wacked. I keep reading posts and remembering stuff. One time, must have been around 10 or 11, watching a movie with my mother. A crazy lady popped out of a hatch from the CEILING in a big old victorian house. We both screamed. Don’t watch horror flicks or read murder mysteries. I read the news.
The question — what is the universe contained in?
The Flying Monkees in the “Wizar of Oz”
evil and dark. I had a 2 week period when I thought the demons were after me. It ended after laying in bed paralyzed with fear and the foot of the bed rising about 6 inches? Not sure how high since it was dark. Never felt that way again.
That’s a rough one.
Nah, not armstrongism, but a completely different group.
Know what you mean.
When you grow up with “Duck and cover and kiss your ass goodbye” there’s not much else that will really scare you.
When I was little? Under the bed.
Now? Leftists.

Must have been THE HAUNTING.
