Ive always found American Christian cultures diminishment of the sacred to be extremely troubling. In a manner foreign to other faiths, evangelicalism often obscures the holy in a cloud of kitsch.
Take, for instance, the Christian t-shirt. Now heres a phenomenon that serves absolutely no purpose. Oh, I know that theyre sold as powerful tools for evangelism, but lets be honest. Have you ever met someone who saw a Lords Gym t-shirt and fell to the ground crying, WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED!? Feel free to leave a comment if you have (unless youre a marketer for Kerusso).
Reducing the beauty of the gospel to a wittyand occasionally aggressivesandwich board doesnt seem like a great way to draw people. In fact, it seems like a better tool for Christians to identify each other in a crowd.
I have a hard time not believing that this is what it means to take the Lords name in vain. Heres 10 examples why:

What I find offensive is political activist who use Jesus.
I agree. A T-shirt, or a bumper sticker, never changed anyone’s mind.
Still, I wouldn’t mind one that said, “If Islam is the answer, what the heck is the problem?”
Wow, how stupid.
“Do the Jew”?
My first reaction (though I knew the intention of the article and thus, the perps), was “a lynching?” “a killing?” “a rape?”
Not that all are that bad. But yes, I agree, I’m sick of all this “cuteness” with watered-down American “Christianity”. Which usually includes “I can do whatever I want, because Jesus died for me anyway.”
It just shows that all this hipness does NOT work.
Please tell that to my former pastor.
I spent 20 minutes at that site, and don’t know what the site is about.
I’m listening to this guy being interviewed, he sounds like a lefty who is working from within Christianity.
This guy is a lefty that is against Christian conservatives and the pro-life movement, he is a “progressive”.

If you are going to post this lefty whose meassage is to attack Christianity, then here is a suggestion for your next thread by him.
“”Christians: Its Time To Acknowledge The Issue Of Privilege””

It’s an excerpted blog. No click for you.
Excerpted from an anti-Christian blog.
If you want to hear an hour of hate directed at Christians and the bible, get this playing.

An anti-Christian blog posted on FR without a barf-alert... and that’s ok?
He may not have caught it, and may have just come across the post on the T-shirts and found it interesting enough to post here.
As I posted earlier, I spent a lot of time at the site before finally figuring out what it was about, of course the reason I stayed with it was because being at a site that resembled being christian, yet was so undefinable, was a red flag.
Thanks for clearing that up. I was curious.
I was just speculating, only InvisibleChurch can clear it up.
I thought it sounded like something Ron Jeremy would wear.
