Its been more than 13 years since The X-Files aired on network TV, but on Tuesday Fox announced the spooky sci-fi series is returning for a six-episode run that will begin in the summer of 2015.
The X-Files, which originally premiered in Sept. 1993, aired for nine seasons and earned 16 Emmy nominations during its run. The series centered on FBI agents Scully, played by Gillian Anderson, and Mulder, played by David Duchovny. Both stars will be reprising their roles for the reboot.
I think of it as a 13-year commercial break, said Chris Carter, creator and executive producer of the show. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.

I think FoxNews.com got the story a bit wrong. Production will start this summer, but the episodes won’t be ready to air until the fall or more likely early next year.

I’ll watch it, but wonder how long before they insert gays into the script.

Always thought that Gillian was incredibly hot... Yep. Post of the day as far as I'm concerned.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)
With some of classic in-jokes and cameos the original series run had, just maybe...

I keep a running list of all TV programs and movies that are in the works or will be airing in the future. There's a method to my madness.

IIRC they did in the classic “X-Cops” episode....

Well, Fall, even late Fall, is still quite good.

re: “Mulder and Scully as being perpetually unable to outmaneuver any of their higher-up opponents. Cases would be solved, and then put away, but the schemers behind the scenes were never outed or made to pay a price for their manipulations.
I think that was totally realistic. Isn't that exactly what is happening now? High up Democrats continually get away with virtually everything. Whenever they are “outed”, they are almost never made to pay a price for their manipulations. The truth is out there, but it doesn't matter. What matters is the politically correct narrative.

What a gorgeous photo of Gillian Anderson! She is one of those rare women who gets more beautiful the older she gets.

Did they ever do an episode like the one in “Leverage” from the perspective of a camera crew following them around as they tried to do their jobs, while the characters kept trying to find ways to dodge the cameras and crews while providing inserted commentary (from “afterward”) complete with barely-suppressed comments and details about how they were trying to do their “jobs” while under scrutiny?
Because I thought the “Leverage” episode doing that was simply hilarious!

Yes but you would hope that SOMETIME one of the schemers would get their comeuppance and a bit of a change from the you’ll-never-win theme throughout. I always prefer to hope that things work out right in the end, even if that is rarely true in real life.

Yeah, the Gunmen didn't have enough 'oomph' to keep their own show going, but they made great assisting characters when the moment called for them.

She is aging well, granted, but I was rather saddened a bit when she changed from strawberry-blonde to redhead. Even though she is naturally a brunette, she carries it off well.
Don’t ask how I know. :)

For all you fans out there, Fox has just announced a short return of Mulder and Scully this summer. Will Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny leave after the fourth episodes requiring Annabeth Gish and Robert Patrick come in and finish it off?

Awesome. I loved The X-Files. Wish they hadn’t waited so long. Hope the fans are still out there to enjoy it. I’ll be there.
