It’s been more than 13 years since “The X-Files” aired on network TV, but on Tuesday Fox announced the spooky sci-fi series is returning for a six-episode run that will begin in the summer of 2015.
“The X-Files,” which originally premiered in Sept. 1993, aired for nine seasons and earned 16 Emmy nominations during its run. The series centered on FBI agents Scully, played by Gillian Anderson, and Mulder, played by David Duchovny. Both stars will be reprising their roles for the reboot.
“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said Chris Carter, creator and executive producer of the show. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

I found Fringe to be a pretty faithful “sequel” to the X-Files.

Will the actors still be getting quickies (unnoticed) between scenes?
Will Michael McKean return to grab Anderson’s behind...again?
I never was quite into the x-files as all it seemed to do was portray Mulder and Scully as being perpetually unable to outmaneuver any of their higher-up opponents. Cases would be “solved”, and then put away, but the schemers behind the scenes were never outed or made to pay a price for their manipulations.
I think the series “Continuum” was quite interesting, however -if not like the x-files at all. “12 Monkeys” is getting quite good as well.
So will Scully and Mulder be returning, if so that’s awesome, used to watch the x files a lot growing up in the 90’s, in fact it was one of the best shows of the 90’s.
Hey, it might have been worse. Instead of bringing Gillian and Duchovny back they might have decided to replace them with Kim Karashian and Will Smith.
Lets hope O’bunghole And The ‘Wife’ do not demand ‘guest’ appearances.

*raises eyebrows* I must have missed that episode. Always thought that Gillian was incredibly hot, so I might have taken the opportunity as well if it was offered. *grin*

According to the announcement, both Gillian and Duchovny will return to play their respective roles once again.

It is great show was hooked on it til my mother passed away and lost interest. Now I’m happy to hear it will be returning. I was such a fan back then I got the X-File Comics for which I still have.
I personally think it is excellent
Would be a good twist if they figured some weird X-File way to bring them back.
