“25-year-old man who was struck by a pickup truck and had his wallet stolen while he lay gravely injured on an Oakland street...”
I hate people.
Yes, well, fortunately everyone is not like that.
The moment you mentioned his wallet being stolen, I remembered the case. I had wondered if this was indeed that case.
Yeah, a lot of people are very low.
Yes, some people would have taken his shoes as well.
Let's not try and hang around those types of folks.
Prayers for his recovery and his family.
Subhumans. Pure and simple. And that’s not an exaggeration.
Shoot, when Delta 191 went down in Dallas in 1985 due to a microburst, reports were that some people were pulling to the side of the highway to steal luggage as people were dying in the burning wreckage.
“Yes, some people would have taken his shoes as well.”
You can’t rally walk in cycling shoes. That is probably what stopped them
It’s not easy to make me laugh. You’ve joined an elite club.
Congrats.
I wonder if he was wearing those tight clothing that cyclists wear....maybe saved him from further injuries.
A 21-year-old British woman was dressed to kill and it saved her life.
Zoe Turner clad in a sexy, hip-hugging dress was taking a cab home from a Christmas party when it was struck by a cement mixer, the Telegraph reported.
Turner and her three friends were critically injured in the accident and doctors told her that the skin-tight red bodycon dress she was wearing likely prevented her broken bones from perforating her organs.
The doctors told me that if I hadnt worn such a tight dress which held in place my bones as the car impacted, I would have most definitely punctured vital organs as my bones went out of place, said Turner, who was seated in the front passenger seat, wearing a seat belt.
The drivers head shattered the windshield and her three friends, who werent wearing seat belts in the back seat, were left unconscious in the Dec. 14 accident.
I was in unimaginable pain as I stumbled out of the car, said Turner, who suffered multiple injuries including a fractured pelvis, fractured vertebra and broken sternum.
The cabbie suffered a broken neck and the other three victims had various broken bones.
I couldnt believe my dress saved my life. Thats the best £35 ($55) Ive ever spent, said Turner, who was released after five days in the hospital. Ill never forget that red dress its just a shame it didnt survive too!
The dress in question
That is exceedingly messed up.
Thugs from across the bridge that visit San Fran bars in the tourist district are known locally as “Raiders fans”.
I was at the DFW airport that day and saw the smoke from the crash. THAT was some storm - blew a 737 parked at a gate next to ours a bit sideways due to wind pressure on the VS.
I kinda doubt the story about stealing luggage based on where the plane went down. IIRC it impacted just short of the threshold and there is no public thoroughfare there- just a nearby airport access road.
That event is what prompted us to get call waiting. My wife was on the phone talking to her sister for over an hour while I was trying to call her to let her know that was not my plane - we had already landed.
But that happened long enough ago to mis-remember ;-)

i sincerely hope this woman is going to be ok. that said... FIVE DAYS?!
my mother cut a tendon in her hand that needed light surgery in 1962. it was completed the first day and she remained in the hospital for FIVE DAYS.
commie care has cut medical care to the point where the critically wounded shipped home as soon as they are stabilized. this off loads the cost the govt has to pay. yes, i realize this was the UK, but the situation will be the same here.
i detest the left
On the near-northwest of Milwaukee, WI, a friend (electrician) was doing work in an alley in that same area. His ladder moved, and he fell to the pavement. As he lay there, he was robbed by two teens. They emptied his truck too. This was during the day.
These are the sort of — what does obama call thugs? ... oh yeah, “folks” — that after you have healed and have adequately prepared yourself you’d like to catch by surprise in a blind alleyway to — you know — help them see the “errors of their inhumane ways”.
I remember the rap concert where people were crushed to death and you could see people stealing the pocketbooks of unconscious people lying on the floor.
I couldn’t imagine being in such close proximity to such people...
Yes, very shocking. I was reading about it in a newspaper.
Delta 191 sat down in a field before the highway. One of the port engines hit a black Toyota Celica, killing the driver instantly. Only the front fenders were recognizable.
With the loss of the port engine and hence, thrust, and the two remaining engines running at full-tilt (as they had tried to climb out of the microburst), 191 continued across the highway, across the field and impacted two water tanks, veering strongly to the left due to asymmetrical thrust.
As I recall, the story was in a local newspaper. There were other horrific scenes described by surviving passengers (in the same story). I no longer sit over the wing, unless necessary, because of one of those stories.
