I know a guy that's pretty down to earth. He was standing around with his father-in-law, who I've heard is really down to earth. Anyway, a friend of his comes over to visit, riding and showing-off the newest whiz-bang dirt-bike, and wearing his protective gear and helmet. After he leaves, the father-in-law asks Tony if he's gonna get one. Tony says, "I can't afford that bike." Father-in-law says "Not the bike...the red Power Ranger suit."

Helmet makes sense for mountain biking and riding in automobile traffic. When I ride my bike, generally I do not expect to see more than 3 cars in an hour.
