Please pray for my son. He is suffering terribly from bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, in a state of torment and fear. He is a deeply religious young man, and he believes he is possessed in some way - which I do not see in him at all. Yet he may be under attack from the outside.

Please pray for his deliverance from the ills of mind and spirit, from protection against any evil spirits that might assail him. Pray that his psychiatrist and his priests may be guided to help him.

We are in no danger from him - he is suffering so much and trying so hard to endure.

It has been a horrible year for us in terms of mental illness - my brother and my husband's sister have been affected as well. We never dreamed it ran so strong in the family, and on both sides too. God have mercy.

Prayers for you. BUT:You should have help and not try to carry this on your own. Your pastor or priest can direct you to mental health professionals who can assist you and your son. If his problems are that grave there are medications that can help him and prevent him from endangering himself or others. Seek medical help don’t just try to bear what you’re experiencing.

I know from experience that it’s very hard to find a good psychiatrist when you need one.

You mention priests. If you think it might be a matter of demonic possession, then you should also seek out a really competent exorcist who knows what he is doing. From everything I have heard, it’s a dangerous and difficult thing to deal with—if by any chance that’s where the problem, or part of the problem, lies.

Have you tried fasting? See the end of Mark chapter 9, after you have read the entire chapter. The brain is the first organ to recover from lack of nutrition. Google the GAPS diet, the Gut and Psychology Diet. Your priest and psychiatrist may not be able to help him, except for stop gap pharmaceuticals. It is the quality of our food supply that is hurting us in so many ways, each person having different manifestations of malnutrition and leaky gut.
