RANCHO MIRAGE, California Vice President Joe Biden, 72, reportedly entered the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California on Feb. 26. According to a source close to the chemical dependency recovery facility, the Vice President was escorted into the Center late Thursday evening by several members of the Secret Service and Dr. Jill Biden, the Vice Presidents wife.
Bidens official White House schedule makes no mention of an official event in or near Southern California, leading many to wonder if the the Vice Presidents visit is because of a substance abuse or alcohol problem.
Bidens recent headlines concern what some describe as his erratic behavior a charge dismissed by close friends and associates brushed aside with the comment Thats just Joe being Joe! Others say the odd conduct can only be described as chemically fueled.

Speaker of the House. Fancy John Boehner, anyone? Yuch. Biden's insurance policy.
No, a new veep is picked. Your scenario is in play only
when both the Pres and the VP go down.
I refuse, this is silly Sunday and I will be as silly as i want as long as I want. By order of my grandson, and nobody overrules him!
25th Amendment
Section 1. In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or
resignation, the Vice President shall become President.
Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President
shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority
vote of both Houses of Congress.

Well .. I guess I’ve been out of school too long.
I have always believed the 3rd person was the Speaker of the House.
Hmmmm ..??
That would be true if both the President and VP were gone. But if the VP is elevated
then the 25th becomes in play and a new VP is appointed subject to approval by both
the House and Senate.
Maybe it used to be that if the President and the VP were both killed, or died .. the Speaker of the House would assume the head of the government.
Maybe that’s what I was thinking ..??
Okay, I finally figured it out .. but you may not have my msg yet.
Thanks for correcting that for me.
You are correct and that would still apply today. The 25th was ratified in the 1960s I believe.
It provided for a new VP to be named and approved by the House and Senate if the President
was replaced by the VP. Before then no procedure was in placed to provide for a new VP
should he be elevated.
You’re right. My mistake.
Not bad, but I like ‘em with a bit more color.
