Sorry to be late this week - I went out of town to help a relative get through surgery, and got stuck in a snowstorm!

Thanks to V. K. Lee for carrying things on.

(If you would like to be on or off of this weekly cooking/recipe ping list, please send me a private message.)
-JT

I’ll pass on any and all blackeyed peas.

The other day, I accidentally created a honey mustard dipping sauce similar to McD’s - combine Chinese hot mustard, mayo and honey.

Hmmmm...I love blackeyed peas. This is an interesting recipe, to say the least. I might have to try it, minus the cilantro. :)

I like almost all legumes. Favorite..Black Beans. Black-eyed peas, no.
In New Years Day tradition I had some black-eyes peas, one of my least favorites.
Mixed a can of BeP with a can on chopped seasoned tomatoes. Voila!
Really good.

Here's some Pennsylvania Dutch inexpensive comfort food which my mother taught me to make at an early age.
Egg Rivels
1 cup flour
2 eggs
1 14.5 oz. can stewed tomatoes w/juice
1/2 tsp sugar
dash of pepper
Combine the tomatoes, sugar and pepper in a pan and bring to a boil, simmer 5 minutes.
Stir up the eggs, add to the flour and mix into a dough with a fork but don't over work it.
Add small bits of the dough with your fingers to the tomatoes, stir it in and let cook for around 10 minutes plus.

Once you try FRESH black eyed peas, the canned stuff just won’t do.

Please keep me on your “ping” list. I seldom post, but read everything.

That sounds like it would be a good recipe to try. I bookmarked it for later. Every new years I make a big pot of lentil soup. It’s been tradition (Italian) in my family for as long as I can remember.

When I was a teenager, I thought cilantro tasted like soap. My brother loved it. He kept giving it to me until one day ...VOILA! I love cilantro. Luckily I was young and have a life times’s worth of cilantro pleasure.

I also made these for a party and everyone liked them, esp with the onion jam and the goat cheese combo.

Not very familiar with Chop Chop Magazine Have been introduced to a few articles/recipes from this org. and they look to be ‘Kosher’ ps..just a pun no disregard to the Jewish religion. Surfing last night found them offering a new magazine for the future chefs/children. Perhaps there might be some interest to those who seek an idea for gifts, etc. At $15 a year for subscription, not an outrageous price.

a NEW, free service called ‘SAME PAGE’ Sounds a bit like FB, Twitter, Tumbler, and all the rest (though this is only a guess, never having signed up with those ‘folks’)

How ‘free’ is it, actually? How ‘free’ are any of the social media sites? This site helps to organize and share your recipes with family and friends. The addies are as follows:
