Rent’s too high Party will come to the rescue.
At some point you need to do a cost/benefit analysis and move where you can afford to live.
Where’s Daddy(s)?........................................
I live in Southern CT but commute to Manhattan which is a 90-minute commute each way. I'd love to have an apartment in Manhattan but all I would be able to afford there is the type of apartment this lady occupies.
Instead, I get a 4,000 sq. ft. home with two acres of land. But I'm 60 miles away and have to commute three hours each day.
It's my choice and I'm not bitching about it.
If she will provide the names of the individuals who forced her to do this to the authorities then I’m pretty sure the thugs can be arrested and charged with extortion, kidnapping, illegal incarceration, white slavery, or something.
The police and district attorneys should be able to find an appropriate crime to charge them with because it cannot be legal to FORCE someone else to live in a garage.
South San Mateo is right next door and much cheaper.
She wants to live in San Mateo, she is going to pay for the address.
That's just plain stupid.
Hence why I stay out of those “fancy” cities. We’re looking for new digs right now, Got one place that’s 1700 sq ft for $975. Awesome part of town too, though the place is a little beat up.
This is our fault. Yes, we conservatives are to blame, especially conservatives on Free Republic. Us all being racists is only a small part of the bigger problem. Any conservative paying anything less than 90% of their income in taxes put this poor pregnant woman and child in these horrid living conditions.
I used to live in San Mateo. We moved out of state 20 years ago so my wife could be a stay at home mom.
The Bay Area housing market is absurd, and getting worse.
I wonder if it is the garage of her parents’ house, she gets some taxpayer funded $1,000/month of “rent assistance”. Then also probably is getting food stamps, WIC benefits, free health care.
What do you suppose happened to the father/s of the child/ren?
Seems like, if she has $1,000/month to spend on rent, there must be better options, even if sharing a house as a roommate with another young single person.
I suspect this whole story and video was done as some kind of ploy for a “gofundme” charity event, or similar.
JMHO
Hmmmph! What’s the problem? No section 8 housing and free stuff in silicon valley?
I’m going to bet that she gets evicted because the owners probably didn’t get a permit to convert the garage to a living quarters and the house is not zoned for multi family use.
The city will now send out an inspector, fine the homeowner, demand that they return the garage to its original condition and evict the tenant.
Here in Denver, $1,000 would get you a decent mobile home or a 1 bedroom apartment in a decent area.
I agree. No one is forcing this woman into anything. She has made all her choices and is living with the results of those choices.
Call the WAAAAAAAHBULANCE!
Correct. Life is a series of choices. Choose the right or live with uncertainty, pain, and concern. Some learn that early, some never.
So? My folks often rented a garage converted into an apartment when we were young. Worst place we ever stayed was in a cleaned up chicken house, till we found a place to rent.
Life’s tough. Get used to it! Be thankful you have a roof!
