I hate texting. I hate the way it restricts me. It's great that I can stay in touch while on the road, but it's a pain in the butt.
I can't reference my thoughts with links that would generally be a few "copy and paste" clicks away.
I can't stand the screen size of my "Smart Phone" and I have one of the largest available.
I hate using the pop up key board that tries to "Help" me.
Ever try to search for and paste a link to something that wasn't already planned for?
Good luck.
I love my PC.
I love that I have the ability to capture information and relay it in seconds. Information that may or may not be stored on my machine. A quick search and a few clicks and I can send it to you without jumping through smart phone hoops.
I hate Texting.
I hate BRB, and all the others that are making people lazy when trying to express themselves.
WTF !!
It's the death of us, the death of our language and the meaning of words in their proper context.
Touch screen convenience at it's best?".
Short cuts designed to "Help" us get our message across have made so many miss the message all together.
I hate Texting.
My wife will tell you that I think texting is a four letter word.
I’ve got a smart phone and a tablet, which I use to read FR and other websites I like. But I refuse to sign in on one of those devices, due to the extreme difficulty involved with using them to input written text.
Like you, I’ll be using my desktop to post from until the day they pry my dirty old keyboard from my nicotine stained hands.
LOL... haven’t seen that in awhile
Really?
You have actually seen that before?
My respect for you has reached a new level if so.
I do not hear well. I love texting. I also love having a record of what was said.
I do like that FreeRepublic loads extremely fast on my Kindle.
pretty much “view only” mode.

What ?
FWIW, I did!
On topic, I was reading hilarious autocorrect fails this a.m. and couldn’t stop laughing. So that is one benefit. :)
However, I don’t have a cell or iPhone, so.... I can’t really comment beyond that. :)
Well, leave me out, I only excelled in recess.
The problem is that people with psychological issues can use it to torment you.
Of course, you can always block them
Driving,,, Driving....
Not me. I had to repeat recess.
One nice thing about texting is you can keep a conversation with far away friends going for a year, just adding to it when it’s convenient.
I like the immediacy of it for really important things, but I love the emotion and context of voice calls as well. I still LOVE phone calls (with friends and fsmily).
I was just curious
if they can get a text, why not simply talk???
.
Right on!
The ‘keyboard’ on my Galaxy S5 is flaky and imprecise, causing numerous corrections, especially when I try to pick the word it offers.

The worst thing is the voice mail translator!
It comes up with the craziest translations.
