Anheuser-Busch InBev is having a tough time getting millennials to crack open a can of Budweiser.
The worlds biggest brewer said Thursday that falling unemployment and premium brands are boosting overall beer sales in the US, its biggest market.
But the company is struggling to market Bud the 139-year-old American brand with blue-collar roots to younger drinkers, who prefer craft brews and bourbon.

I cannot drink most domestics because I get a wicked headache after just 1. Sam Adams is the worst. One of those and I am on the floor with a pillow on my face.
BTW, my barbershop has Stella in the fridge, 2 are included with each haircut.
Schlitz, Piels, Rolling Rock, Iron City, Schmidts-not to mention Colt 45 - ah those were the days.
With an honorable mention to Ortlieb’s.
I’ve had more than my share of bad beer. Buckhorn comes to mind. But PBR was undrinkable. Bud is awful; I tried some last summer at Wrigley Field. I had the hardest time squeezing out little sheep turds the next day.
Never again.
Good point. Probably got it at the discount bin and Amtrak hoping someone drunk enough won’t notice the taste.
You won’t be disappointed. It is a small place, but they make some excellent beers. And only a few miles away is The Bruery, which is a good place to stop as long as you have a designated driver. Everything they make is high alcohol content. And I was surprised to find out, they naturally carbonate all their beers. They don’t use CO2.
Good excuse for a ‘trim a day’ regiment.
Yep...lots of hops, a catchy name and an artsy label. There are some outstanding craft beers, but there are many more charlatans making and selling pisswater to gullible hipsters.
Very like what happened when Bill and Hillary unleashed the insurance companies to wade into medical practice and buy out all the independent clinics, reducing choice, ostensibly so the insurers could get leverage on their costs.
It was a disaster for consumers, and Slick and Beast inflicted it out of malice, a) because the public had rejected Hillarycare and b) to screw up fee-for-service medical care in order to drive the People toward Single Payer.
“.. Budweiser always tasted like cheap waterey skunk piss to me.”
How do you know? Did you do a comparison taste test? :)
When I was in college, we could get a 12 of Blatz warm at Osco for $2.49. Dumped in an ice bucket we had beer in 20 minutes. I think their advertising line was “After three, who cares?”
My first beer buzz in high school was an 8 pack of Schoenling Little Kings. Damn those little 8 oz. bottles had a kick to them.
Currently enjoying a bottle of Hoppyum IPA. Have to say I will open a can of Bud (not lite) during the night also, mostly trying to keep my costs down before grabbing a Sweetwater IPA. I like to alternate flavors throughout the evening.
If Bud keeps going up in price, I might as well just buy Stella, to go along with the IPA’s.
I compared it to Corona. :)
It comes in four packs and I can only drink two of them in a sitting. Which is a good thing because if the alcohol was lower, I'd probably drink the whole four pack and then I'd really have a beer belly. It is probably the most delicious beer I've ever tasted. Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout comes close.
Like I said I am not a beer expert. In college was when I had beers, mostly. Where I went we had Miller a lot. A beer I actually didn’t mind so much was Michelob.
I was a draft hard cider guy myself, if I really wanted to enjoy something. Didn’t drink too much because I usually wanted to keep sharp reflexes.
I never understood the IPA craze. I’d much rather stick to porters, stouts and for warmer weather, pilsners.
If I'm drinking cheap, I'll go right for Busch or something on sale. Normally, I'll get Bell's or Guinness.
THAT's the big difference. Guinness stayed about the same in price for years and actually dropped in price at Meijer's. Budweiser is $1 less.
Wow. I have never heard of that brewery. Hopefully I can find their products to try.
.
Canned beer?
Baaaaarf.
