Cleveland TV anchor Kristi Capel has been temporarily taken off the air in the wake of using a racial slur during a live broadcast on Monday.
Cleveland.com reported that Capel did not appear on the Fox 8 morning show on Wednesday, and would not appear on Thursday or Friday of this week either. She will return to the broadcast on Monday, March 2.
While praising Lady Gaga's performance of a "Sound of Music" medley at the 2015 Oscars on Sunday, Capel said during the Monday broadcast, "It's hard to really hear her voice with all the jigaboo music... She has a gorgeous voice."

If she were black and or homosexual, there would be no controversy.
I’m sitting here laughing. Good gravy somebody was honest. Burn her!
If there was any sanity, people would learn to suck it up and it’s not all about them. One of the many tempests in a tea pot; I’d love for ONE of the idiots who complained about it was sent to Chicago to comfort one of the families who had one of their children murdered this past weekend. Random draw every single time some tempest pops up - people should care about REAL issues that affect MANY people than whining about someone using an appropriate description that has somehow fallen out of fashion.
Miss Missouri 2006.
Not guilty.
The “level playing field” with regard to race, so called, means that only Blacks are allowed to utilize these terms.
I got a quote today from a potential contractor who noted there would be “”additional extra cost if tools, dies or jigs were required.” Shall I report him?
She clearly was misusing the word because it didn’t even fit the conversation with that meaning. It was a Sound of Music orchestra set...for crying out loud. She was not intending anything offensive nor inferring anything.
I wonder if she even knew what the word meant? It is not used much anymore, from what I gather.
Yes, report him for not using the Oxford comma.
proper term is jegro.
Hilarious.
not guilty...
I think the reporter was referring to Lady Gaga’s OTHER music being hard to understand due to the .... you know... intonation and slang..
But this is JMHO.
“... it is not used much anymore...”
I agree with you.. it isn’t used much anymore. It is a dated word. I know what it means but the younger generation doesn’t. I don’t want to get into the whole story but I can say the teens/twenty something’s have never heard it before.
She’s not the Cleveland anchor who got fired in Youngstown after she took a Florida vacation, went out and got rip-snorting drunk, and ended up in one of those Girls Gone Wild videos, is she?
I haven’t heard the word jigaboo in so long, I laughed out loud when I read it.
