Hugh Hewitt grills David Corn of Mother Jones on his claim that then-CBS News correspondent Bill O'Reilly exaggerated the capacity of his involvement in covering the Falklands War.
DAVID CORN, MOTHER JONES: As Joe Walsh said, do the show, go play it straight, hell play fair. But youre asking me questions you didnt ask Bill OReilly.
HUGH HEWITT, HOST: If you
DC: So you know, Im given you one more
HH: Heres Eric Engberg
DC: If you want to talk about the article or not, Hugh, because Ive got better things to do than help you fill time on the radio.
HH: Eric Engberg said yesterday, We saw what was a moderate-sized riot, what was a couple of thousand people attacking the Casa de Rosada. But he also said nobody attacked the soldiers, nobody attacked the police. That account is now contradicted by a CNN story quoting CNN from the time saying, A squad of teargas-armed troops and a crowd hurling coins, rocks and even bricks at police and journalists. Is it not possible that weve got a different perspective thing going on here, David, just possible that some people saw different things?

Liberals can't engage in the give-and-take of normal discourse because to them, it's not about Truth, it's about The Cause. That's why they filibuster, often frantically and in a disjointed way bordering on psychosis.
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be masterthat's all."
- Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass
I don’t listen to him often, but got to hear a few minutes of this. HH was relentless, devastating and a perfect gentleman. Corn was snarky, defensive and tried to bully him, but you can’t bully somebody who won’t engage with your tactics.
Well done.
Listening to lefties try to spin their way out of answering that question sure adds a lot of credibility to the old man's theory.

That’s why Air America could not survive.
What a sad embarrassment, a disappointing , self-destructive, leftist lunatic.
What’s kinda funny about this is that I think O’reilley is a poser. I DO NOT LIKE THE GUY or his schtick. But Corn is tilting at windmills here.
That's one reason. A bigger reason is that for a program to be successful, the host must be a competent radio man. Being a radio host or commentator is an acquired skill. For example, Rush Limbaugh acquired this skill at an early age. He could be successful in almost any area of radio. Air America thought they could stick any radical Leftist in the host chair and succeed.
Perhaps the biggest reason Air America didn't succeed is they were duplicating the efforts of all the networks. Rush Limbaugh succeeded because he satisfied an unfilled need. Why listen to yet ANOTHER lame liberal voice when the world is saturated with them?
Dittos.
I had the pleasure of speaking to Mr. Hewitt on-air many times when he was local in SoCal. He permitted me to discuss politics, opine on motion pictures and we even briefly compared childhood memories of Greater Cleveland.
He was very polite
But then, I was just a listener/caller — and not part of the “Death to America” left.
At one time, Hugh Hewitt was a fan of FreeRepublic. His screener “GeneralissimoDuane” was registered here.
But as time went one Hugh drifted farther and farther away form conservatism — and eventually denounced FReepers as “crazies” (IIRC)
Simian in appearance.
They said it about Dubya.
I also have spoken on his show more than once.
(Says something about his audience when it has always been easy to call in).
He pulled a total BS intellectually dishonest thing on me once (about a non-political topic he was factually incorrect on).
I listened to Hugh on KFI before he was on KIEV. I remember him from Life and Times.
I am a Dimagiatti. I listened in the morning (Morning Glory) and learned of and listened on 911.
It is sad that he has fallen so far.
Except in some ways he has always been the same. I first heard him on Live From LA on KKLA filling in the evening before the Davis - Lungren election.
Hewitt was talking about how Lungren had it in the bag. Wouldn’t even be close. Lungren was going to win by a landslide.
That made me feel good. Wow, I thought. Lungren is actually going to win.
Of course Lungren didn’t even come close.
Hewitt just made it up. Just like he did for McCain and Romney, saying over and over how Romney would win by a landslide.
Hewitt has this weird thing where he asks every one about Alger Hiss and the Looming Tower.
Hewitt is a big blowhard pretender and anti-conservative, though he hides that to some degree.
Yeah.
You remember generalissimoduane when he was here.
Hewitt called Freepers Coastwatchers.
Oh how times have changed.
He’s a polite moderate, but an attorney by training. And I have heard lib guests on his show wilt under cross-examination before.
Those are actually excellent litmus tests for Leftists. If one is unable to admit that Hiss was proven to be a Communist spy, or worse, doesn't know who Hiss was, it is a dis-qualifier for discussions of journalistic integrity. And if one has not read The Looming Towers, it is a dis-qualifier for discussions of Islam and American foreign policy.
It would be like discussing the New Testament and being unfamiliar with Pontius Pilate.
I will save my wrath over someone who matters. O’Reilly doesn’t : )
It is actually a rather old and esoteric question.
