Posted on 02/21/2015 8:13:06 AM PST by BenLurkin
The couple was driving their pit bull through a shopping center in Costa Mesa on their way to Huntington Beach when the dog turned on them.
Authorities said the couple both sustained serious injuries. Witnesses said both were bitten repeatedly in the arms.
The husband was driving, his wife was a passenger. They said the dog attacked inexplicably.
During the attack, the wife was able to call 911 while the husband pulled into a parking lot. The husband jumped out of the vehicle and the dog followed, continuing to attack the man.
Police said when the woman tried to coax the dog back into the car, the dog turned on her as well.

Hm. I wonder if the couple was arguing or something. There’s always a little more to the story...
Possibly an issue with what the car radio was tuned to? Some of the crap I hear makes me want to attack something. :>}
Wonder if dog was a rescue..our neighbor has a boxer she got from shelter & the dog has a screw loose. It’s attacked a few people for no reason & neighbor has been sued for one incident.
While it's possible, I seriously doubt we are getting the full story here. For example, I wonder if anyone will have the sense to ask if it is an un-neutered male?
Aw heck, we don't need no stinkin' facts.
Some people blame the breed.
Some people blame the owners.
In this case, you really can’t pick an incorrect side.
Your argument idea — reminds me of our much missed mini poodle. If my wife and I argued, the poodle would growl at me and my much louder voice.
I loathe pit bulls, but if he was being subjected to that annoying bass line from hip-hop or rap music; an attack was justified. Sic 'em, boy!

This dog clearly has preferences.
I’ve seen some dogs get over protective and aggressive when they get into a car. I’ve also seen dogs that get extremely nervous and agitated by riding in the car. Who knows what set this dog off?
I guess next time they’ll give him the last bite of that cheeseburger...
According to the responses on the thread so far, it was the owner’s fault that the dog attacked him while he was driving his car.
The dog was merely trying to correct either the master’s tone of voice, or his choice of music.
I'm betting the shelter did not study the dog properly and then did not know or care what to tell the neighbor.
The rescue organization my daughter works with very carefully checks out dogs for many situations. She is well versed in all the things that one needs to look for, having fostered a number of dogs, many of which were pit mixes. All of this is carefully explained to potential adopters of these dogs. This dog is kid and people friendly, but won't share space with another dog. Some are great with adults, not good around children. And so on.
I am continually amazed how many dog owners have absolutely no education on or understanding of canine behavior.
Example, a friend was bemoaning that his [little] dog has suddenly become a very picky eater & asked for suggestions. One dog owning moron suggested he put another dog in the room and let it start eating his dog's food; that would make the food suddenly more attractive to his dog. Dangerous idea. Some dogs don't care. Some otherwise sweeties will get vicious. ANY dog will snap at you if you push the right button.
Was the dog a Muslim? They didn’t mention it, so that probably tells you something.
