Wonder if dog was a rescue..our neighbor has a boxer she got from shelter & the dog has a screw loose. It’s attacked a few people for no reason & neighbor has been sued for one incident.
I'm betting the shelter did not study the dog properly and then did not know or care what to tell the neighbor.
The rescue organization my daughter works with very carefully checks out dogs for many situations. She is well versed in all the things that one needs to look for, having fostered a number of dogs, many of which were pit mixes. All of this is carefully explained to potential adopters of these dogs. This dog is kid and people friendly, but won't share space with another dog. Some are great with adults, not good around children. And so on.
I am continually amazed how many dog owners have absolutely no education on or understanding of canine behavior.
Example, a friend was bemoaning that his [little] dog has suddenly become a very picky eater & asked for suggestions. One dog owning moron suggested he put another dog in the room and let it start eating his dog's food; that would make the food suddenly more attractive to his dog. Dangerous idea. Some dogs don't care. Some otherwise sweeties will get vicious. ANY dog will snap at you if you push the right button.
I did nothing but I have thought about it ever since.
