The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
I will fight hard on this and expect better than average results. I've gotten better than average on everything else, I will this, too.

Prayers for strength and good cheer. May your angels bring you peace and comfort and lead you to a place where you can see the distant shore of great things to come.
I consider this not your "opus" , but rather as your "hoc opus, hic labor est".
I , and many other 'lurkers', have enjoyed your wit , wisdom ,culinary , and gardening skills , and especially your willingness to share it with others.
I know you to not be a quitter, and expect many more posts from you in this forum - I have so much more to learn from you .
Ash Wednesday is a reminder for us all of our own mortality , whether we are religious , or not .
I look forward to your future posts,..and stories of naked firemen ,..soil sterilization,..fresh baking secrets,..recipies for squirrel,.. and gardening information.
LOL! I know you will, and I’m looking forward to it. :)
Exactly true .
I was aware that there was trouble ahead when you mentioned you were going to get "hot water" in the house after all these years.
Know that prayers are powerful,.. and I will pray for your endurance and success.
Rest well , my FRriend , I still have much to learn .
Bless you Johnny. You are in my prayers every day.
I use the screaming yellow grid. LOL It’s low tech. Uses a yellow legal pad. Folded in half and then in eight. Each of the 16 rectangles is one of the raised beds.
I used to have a template drawn to scale, but it kept getting lost. The yellow grid stands out from all the other papers around.
Haven’t heard of it. Is it a hybrid?
We have some asparagus, but never planted it. I am assuming that it’s wild. Expecting to have some to eat this year.
Our Prayers are with you and thank you for all your helpful garden tips you have posted on this forum over the years. God Speed Johnny...
Eureka! That’s nice weather you are having.
and most of it filters over the sand dunes to our neck of the Redwoods...
That’s great for you and yours. I love Missouri, but hate Missouri winters. An occasional light snowfall its nice, but not what we have had the last 2 winters.
And to think they Govt. changed us from zone 5 to zone 6. The very next year mother nature decided to show them how wrong they were. LOL
Time to call all prayer warriors to action.
Lifting you up, Johnny.
It is, one they cooked up for their own use. Now my favorite Roma. Worth trying to see how it does in your soil.
Might try it next year. I have so many seeds from last year’s greedy order. LOL
Sorry to hear this.
Prayers up.
Crosslinking over at the UT.
GOD, Please embrace this man with your love and kindness.
If you see fit for his purpose on this earth to continue, I believe that you may determine how to further us all through those lives that you put and maintain within your flock.
Amen
Really sorry to hear this. You are a shining light here at FR and definitely someone I would have liked to know in person. You are a fine gentleman and I wish you peace and as much time as you would wish.
