The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
Keeping you in my prayers. God Bless.
Thank you !
I’m shopping for a snow removal tool for our 2,000 foot, downhill asphalt driveway. Something on tracks, like the Honda HS13361.
Pricey.
Prayers Up! also check out www.paudarco.com use the extract from GNC, Whole Foods or such. Many ‘terminal’ lives saved. I used it and my radiation therapist agreed it can be very useful. Whenever someone says the “C” word o me I say pau d’arco.
Since I don't have genetic testing equipment here, I don't trust any of them. If I grow it, I trust it.

That happened to our “wild” peach tree some years ago. This time of year it was full of blooms. It snowed that year. Come summer it was FULL of tiny peaches. We were getting ready to pick as many as possible with help of some friends. We had a huge wind storm and blew all but a few of the peaches off the tree. We had some come over and pick as many peaches as possible off the ground, we did the same, but we had so many split/bug filled peaches left, we shoveled them up and dumped them in the bully. Guess what?
Yep, there are not some small trees in the gully. Oh well.
It’s good to see you M Kehoe, how is the first lady? Miss seeing you.
Hi till. Good to see your moniker. I hope you are doing well.
The First lady and me are doing well. Life is good (considering current circumstances).
Say a prayer for Johnny. The Lord does listen.

33.2 right now, have no experience coming that close but there's sure a good bloom crop, wouldn't be then end of the world if we lost them of course, but I sure do like good peaches.
But would you know a good peach without ever having eaten a bad one? Picked up a couple at the store Saturday, didn't have high hopes but they sure looked good. Bit into one....nothing. No juice and just a bare hint of peach flavor. Should have known but desire beat out experience.
I’m praying for you Johnny. You don’t know how much it has meant to have your voice here on these forums.
I’ve been a freak my whole life because of my obsession with self-sufficiency. Somehow you made being a freak like that ok.
Now you can wear this: http://www.zazzle.com/i_had_brain_surgery_shirt-235650685807264600
Johnny-
What can I say, but Prayers Out! For you, your family & friends, and for your health care providers so that you don’t just hit your goals, but way exceed them!
Oh, man. At least you know how good God is and it sounds like you are correctly oriented towards Him. Hang tough!
Well, we have had snow, sleet, freezing rain, and plenty of cold and freezing weather. Our front porch and patio are basically just a sheet of ice, as is the driveway.
My grand daughter and the dog have been falling down several times on their way in and out of the house. Hubby did get a path made and threw some flour down, since he couldn’t remember where he put the kitty litter.
On Wednesday we had temps in the high 40s and lots of the grassy areas melted. The back patio and part of the side patio melted. The front patio and steps is on the North east side and remains an ice rink.
I have not stepped one foot outside for over a week.
I am so ready for spring. I just hate ice.
Thanks for posting the article. I find that I spend more time these days doing things I just want to do and not so much stuff that I should do.
I figure I’ve lived about 3/4 of my life now, and most of it doing stuff that was necessary, so I intend to spend more time just doing stuff I like. LOL
I hate to hear that about the next winter. I was hoping for some Globull Warming. LOL
Yes and it has the same impact on your tummy. Potatoes fill you up and you feel satiated and satisfied. Spinach leaves your tummy a bit on the empty side, and not at all satisfied.
I have added two potatoes a day, along with extra fruits, to my meals, and I think that’s why my blood pressure is much better now.
This is Thursday and it’s in the 20s with snow falling and it’s sticking - that will freeze tonight. Tomorrow, we’ll have freezing rain making ice on bridges and roads worse.
Sunday will get into the 50s and that’s when we will go to Johnny’s and take him art supplies he wants, plus get chicken strips he wants from a place near his house.
I am so thankful I now live in this area to be near enough to his house to be able to get there in 40 minutes.
