Around here, in my neck of the woods in Oklahoma, we know who is WHITE TRASH from who they are and their behavior and attitude, not by them waving cash around in their hand (which is a dead give-away, that you’re dealing with White Trash, as they seem to think that makes a difference).

From what I see of you here, you definitely qualify as White a Trash.

Do you wanna wave your money a round some more? ... LOL ...

Yeah, these Apple-haters do that and end up getting it back to them, with their obsessive Apple-hating posts on threads they can’t stand ... :-) ...

I’m glad you like your MacBook Pro!

Nah that is why I don't buy highpriced geegaws. My money is working for me. You hipsters wave your money around by buying your highpriced gadgets. If you met me on the street you would think I was just another wage slave trying to make ends meet. That is the secret I don't need to work everyday because I don't spend money needlessly. I am not rich. I just don't waste money.

I've been using plan from a book first published in 1926 for almost 30 years. I gave that book to my daughter just a few days ago. She is now almost halfway through college AND will have it paid for by the end of the first year after she graduates because she applied the principals in that book to her college plan. She doesn't own high priced geegaws either.

Ah, the old “I am rubber, you are glue” defense.

If that is all you have then it pretty much says it all...

I don’t hate apples, in fact they are pretty nice, if overly expensive and lag a little. The bezels are sharp and the displays are pretty nice.

But this constant fanboy posting every time someone says something nice about apple is like parents who post pictures of their babies every time they successfully use the potty.

It is cultish and smacks of liberal groupthink. It is definitely worthy of derision and teasing (which you proved you cannot handle).

You know ... I’ve got a relative who gets everything “cheap” ... and I mean it’s just the price tag that counts. From what I see, it ends up being just junk, and things don’t work, they’re a hassle, food tastes bad, the life-span on products are shorter than normal, and they waste a lot of time hassling with the products, even when they are supposedly working.

Now, I don’t, on the other hand, just get the most expensive things I can find, but rather a middle ground of the most cost-effective, taking into consideration, usability, life-span and the general comfortableness of using it. I tend to not get products that make me “work for the product” but rather something that has been engineered to “work for me” as much as is feasible.

This relative I was talking about ... when I accuse her of actually “wasting her money on cheap products” ... she then says I get the “most expensive thing” I can find - when I actually don’t and I show her that I don’t ... LOL ...

I’ve found that if I have a product in which you “use it” and you end up hating to use it, because of how badly it is made, or that actually using it breaks it ... then you never “get your money’s worth” from “usage”.

With Apple products, I get my money’s worth, plus they can be used heavily and you don’t get tired of using them and they don’t quit working, and they’re pleasant and a real joy to use by the way they’re designed. Apple has designed excellent products!

"You know ... I’ve got a relative who gets everything “cheap” ... and I mean it’s just the price tag that counts...

Followed by more attempts at justification for paying premium for temp tech.

In 1977 I bought a Brand new Fender Strat. Got it at a discount because the pick guard was cracked still played fine. I replaced the pick guard and played it professionally till 1985 when a buddy offered me 40% more than I paid for it. I sold it and used the money to buy a slightly used Gibson Les Paul and within a year and traded for a 1983 Strat and a 1982 tele. I played them for a few more years and then retired from playing music professionally. Sold them for 3 times what I paid for the original strat in 1977 and made money by playing those various guitars for over 13 years.

You know why? Because Gibson and Fender Guitars are made well and are worth every penny because they actually go up in value and that is because they still do the job even after 40 years. Apple and Android geegaws do not. They are temporary tech and they are designed that way. The trick is to know what you are buying and if it has real value for the long haul. Temp Tech does not. It loses it's ability to function as it ages like batteries quitting or screens getting scratched etc.

Scratch a fender guitar and it still plays fine. No batteries to wear out AND you can fix them yourself without expensive repair bills.

Knowing that difference is why I am not in debt.

“The benefit to that would be that everyone would be getting a better phone ... :-) ...”

For some but not all.

“An additional side benefit, would be that Apple-haters like you wouldn’t be on these threads ... LOL ...”

I am not an Apple hater. I have Apple stock. Just can’t figure out why the snobs wait hours in line to get the new iPhone when they can walk in and get it the next day without waiting.

Why they have to wait in line for the 6 when the 6S is coming out soon.

“I actually feel sorry for these Android and Samsung phone users that I see around me, when they can’t get things to work right for them and they waste so much time trying, and eventually, they give up on using it any more than they have to.”

I am still using my 2 1/2 year old Galaxy SII. Works fine for me and I look at the iPhone features and see no reason to upgrade.

Jesus Christ? Would that be the demonic presence in my life?

I'm sure it would seem as such to those who kneel daily to bite at the apple.

Does not even that glaring bit of symbolism give you pause? No, of course not. Because you are a believer.

"We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.

I see myself in those Words, in my greed, covetousness, ambition, licentiousness, contempt. I battle daily against their appeal.

And yet we witness those ugly qualities elevated and exalted all around us, even here at FR.

“With iPhone and iPad, it’s such a joy to use, with its good user interface and ease of use, that it gets used more and more. Those people with iPhone and iPad are really getting their money’s worth, and they sell their devices for a higher resale value because of that.”

I am still using my years old Galaxy phone and tablet. Both get the job done and were years ahead of Apple when they came out. Even today, I see no reason to upgrade.

I got the iPhone when it first came out, and went to the brand new Apple Store in Tulsa. It had its grand opening at the same time that the iPhone came out in 2007. If I remember right, it opened in the evening, at the same time the phone was to start selling. There was a long line there, too.

I didn’t want to wait in line, so I drove down to Dallas, instead ... LOL ... I was scheduled to go there anyway, so I decided to get it there. It was the second day it sold and there was no line to wait in ... :-) ... I don’t like to stand in lines either.

"Uh... you use a guitar to access the internet and make phone calls?"

No I used them to make money both by playing them and then selling them for more than I paid for them. They are worth paying premium for because they hold their value and actually appreciate in value.

Cell phones/smartphones do not. That is why I don't pay premium for them. The same reason smart folks don't buy new cars. A new car gets you from point a to point b so does a used car but you pay much less even if you have to repair it.

I can make phone calls, go on the internet, text and email and take pictures with a brand new iGadget or android and pay 600 bucks plus to do so or I can do the same with a used phone for 129 bucks.

And understand Sparky there I was replying to was talking about buying cheap. From reading his post we see Sparky in his mind if he is not buying at premium then it's cheap and his life loses meaning. He thinks cheap means crappy. He does not understand that using your money wisely means not wasting it on buying the latest and the greatest as seen by the mindless consumer mob.

If you want to get value do the opposite of the majority who waste their cash buying things they are told they need by endless propaganda A.K.A. advertising.

Bottom Line Winston does not actually taste good like a cigarette should, it instead slowly kills you.

What phone have you ever bought that goes up in value? ... LOL ...

What I have found out is that iPhones and iPads have higher resale value than other comparable products. And that’s more especially so, if you sell it with the AppleCare contract still in force. People know they have a GUARANTEE on the used iOS device!

And talking about something going up in value, I really don’t know of any consumer products that people use in their everyday lives that go up in value (not a “collectible that people get for that particular purpose and don’t “use”).

Everything that you use as a consumer goes down in value. The KEY here is to get stuff that lasts very well, that doesn’t go down as fast in value as the cheaper comparable product and is built very well, so that it will be desirable to others who easily buy it from you used.

All my cars have gone down in value, my furniture has gone down in value, my appliances have gone down in value, my lawn mower has gone down in value, my chain saw has gone down in value, my stereo has gone down in value, my TV has gone down in value ... you name it for my consumer items and they have gone down in value. So I have no idea what consumer products you’re talking about.

Obviously Apple overcharges the snobs.

Obviously, since according to multiple sources analyzing Apple's last quarter's sales, only 15% of those purchases went to current Apple customers. . . 85% of the buyers were Androis users who were jumping ship from Android to iPhones. Sorry, your insult missed the intended target and shot a lot of ex-Android users.

As I noted in another post ... in terms of political campaigns ... there’s 20% on the left that you’ll never change their minds, no mafter how much you talk - so they do NOT MATTER. And then there are 20% on the right that you don’t need to bother talking to them, because they’re already on your side. You talk to the 60% in the middle!

And with Apple, they know that in the “marketplace” too. They’re not talking to the 20% on the left that hates Apple products, and they don’t talk to the 20% on the right that is already sold, Apple talks to the 60% in the middle - AND - Apple is doing a TERRIFIC JOB selling the iPhones to those 60% in the middle!
