The Nations Dave Zirin (the same journalist who brought us the genius idea that not cheering for the Seattle Seahawks is racist) wrote a post-Super Bowl column attributing the Seattle Seahawks horrible decision to throw a pass on the one-yard line in the final seconds of the game was due to the politics of race and an anti-Marshawn Lynch conspiracy. (VIDEO: Patriots And Seahawks Fans React To Malcolm Butlers Interception)
The theory, as relayed by Zirin, is that Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll called a pass because he wanted the young, clean-cut quarterback Russell Wilson to be seen as the game-winner, not the renegade running back Marshawn Lynch. The only source for this theory is a disgruntled anonymous figure in the Seahawks locker room.
Russell Wilson is your young clean-cut God-fearing media-perfect quarterback
Zirin writes, Hes Derek Jeter with a Bible, someone who comes across like he has never spoken out of turn in his entire life. Marshawn Lynch is
Marshawn Lynch.

Yeah, but is one more dark-skinned than the other? (SARCASM)
I AM SO SICK OF BEING REMINDED OF THE COLOR OF PEOPLE'S SKIN.
OK, interception aside I can completely understand the play call. It’s second and goal from the one, 20 seconds to go, one timeout. You’re down by four so you need to score a touchdown. Your quarterback has only 7 picks on the season. Passing on second down makes sense because it potentially allows you three tries to score. If it’s caught then he’s in the endzone and you win. If it’s incomplete then it’s 3rd and goal from the one with maybe 15 seconds to go and with the timeout you have two more chances to punch it in. But if you run on second down and he’s stopped then you have to burn the timeout and you have once chance left. It ended badly but if I were in Pete Carroll’s shoes I might well have made the same call.
Wilson is a "white black". (h/t George Zimmerman)
Ridiculous. Bad play call or not, it was based on the reasoning that the Patriots expected run, so pass instead.
It was soundly based.
Damn good game. In total the Patriots deserved to win, but not by much.
bump
Is Wilson too clean and articulate for them?
Sooo. In the politics of race. They didn’t want to give the black running guy the ball to win the game because they wanted to give the other black guy the ball so he could throw it to another black guy to win the game. Sounds legit.
(To paraphrase a famous line from SNL’s early Weekend Updates) Dave, you ignorant slut! It was the politics of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory with a horrible decision on the part of the ‘Hawks to pass the ball when they were 1st and goal only to be intercepted by Malcolm Butler, who is also BLACK! Doesn’t Mr. Butler deserve his “day in the sun” for saving the game for the Patriots? We can call racism here, too. These progs are the same hypocrites who accused Sen. Joe McCarthy of the same level of paranoia for claiming there’s a “red under every bed”.
What was the race of the intended receiver? This may be the crucial bit of info in all this....or not
Lynch ALMOST scored on just the previous play right? (Didn’t he get stopped just short of the goal line on a rushing attempt?) This alone blows this punk liberal dick head’s theory all to heck.
I would Love to take the Credit for that Rob Lowe Meme, but was floating out there on the interwebs yesterday. ;)
I believe the dammed sports media are worse than the regular MSM when it comes to liberalism and idiocy.
Probably because they weren’t smart enough to make it as any other kind of reporter, ect; and That’s REALLY BAD!!!!
Don't know the answer but I applaud the question.
‘Arent African and native American two races?’
Neither ‘African’ nor ‘American’ is a race.
*Some* people who live in Africa belong to the ‘Negroid’ race.
Native Americans are classified as ‘Paleo-Mongoloids.’

They ran Lymch the play before and gained four yards to inside the one. Guess they didn’t want him to score then either according to this nitwit.
“How can it be racism if its still a black guy winning the game?
And a black guy making the interception?”
And a black guy who was the intended receiver whom short-armed the ball? ;-)
