I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?
Very distressing to hear about Jack’s facial injuries. Praying that his face will recover fully and that his doctor will recommend a plastic surgeon who can do the job perfectly.
Darksheare, we have a prayer warrior list here at FR. If you wish, just ask Kathy in Alaska to post this to her FR prayer warrior mailing list. Or I’ll ask her on your behalf, but wanted to check with you first. Let me or Kathy in Alaska know.
God bless.
Call the police and get good advice?

AAARRRrrrggggghhhhh! No! Just... No.
Praying for the boy. And everyone else, too.
On the long-term, practical side...
It sounds to me like your nephew just figured out how his college career is going to get funded. Permanent damage, you say? That’s a slam-dunk win in just about any court in the land. The guy’s insurance company might not even bother fighting it.
My Number One Son got knocked off of his bike by an inattentive driver, and had no lasting injury at all, but the driver’s insurance company comp’d him all of his medical bills, replaced his bike and other damaged property, and tossed in nearly $11K for “pain and suffering.”
No doubt a permanently disfiguring injury coupled with the emotional and physical trauma, and possible ongoing fear of dogs will knock down some serious compensation. Make sure the family sets their sights on at least a million; the boy’s going to have to live with this his whole life, after all.
One thing about the hapless neighbor: focus the bulk of pressure on his insurance company; not him. The guy may be so embarrassed he doesn’t know what to say, and he’s got to remain livable as a neighbor, no matter what else happens.
Pardon me.
;)
Best wishes to Jack and a greedy personal injury lawyer for the neighbor!
Please, if you could.
Thanks.
I’m just...
The doof stood there scratching and sniffing basically while two children were in the dogs path.
My nephew was who the dog went for.
I apologize for multiple pings, and for skipping posts and such.
I hear that.
Second part only if my brother has the wherewithal to go that route.
” possible ongoing fear of dogs “
Yeah, that does last a lifetime.
I know.
Dogs don't actually fear so much as become wary. Generally you can beat them over the head when they try to bite a person and they will stop fearing you after a very short time - so long as you treat them well when they're behaving.
From past experience, Darks, my only comment is this: Prayers for Jack’s healing, and for you, forgive. The best thing about the latter is that wonderful things happen when you forgive wrongdoers, but you need to do it in sincerity.
I can’t live with the darkness of harboring anger or ill will towards anyone, so I have learned to forgive everyone for everything, often before they have even wronged me. It works wonders.
As an aside for the news of Jack’s injuries, he will grow to be glad he is not a girl...he doesn’t have to re-learn how to apply lipstick. I say that from experience. After the car accident that nearly took my life, I had 52 stitches from my upper lip to the bridge of my nose and onto both eyelids.
The bridge of my nose is still numb, so that when I drink anything from a glass, I learned to tip my head back because I couldn’t feel when the glass had hit my nose. It was almost three years before I could bring my upper lip down to smooth out the lipstick, rather that than bring my bottom lip up.
Little things that folks take for granted, but I am grateful that I am still alive to make fun of what I had to go through in the healing processes. Small comfort for Jack’s parents, of course, but bless his little heart, he will learn to adapt. <3
Humphrey Bogart had a paralyzed upper lip due to an injury.
Hopefully Jack won’t have too much trouble.
Hmm. Maybe there’s a Lauren Bacall in Jack’s future.
A good plastic surgeon can fix your nephew’s face,
missing lip muscle and all.
As the cost of his surgeries and plastic surgeries
mount, you may want to contact a lawyer and sue your
brother’s neighbor for the damages caused by the dog
and for the medical expenses. He let the dog bit your
nephew without a qualm or trying to stop the cur.
That’s negligent mayhem with a vicious dog.
Now, were you told what your nephew did, if anything,
to provoke the dog?
They work on percentage.
The dog is a known biter.
The dog got loose and the owner did the “scratch, sniff, and stare” action instead of getting his dog.
The police are involved because of the severity of Jack's injuries. It took the plastic surgeon 3 hours and 2 and a half rolls of suture to stitch the inside and outside of Jack's lip. He is missing some muscle and fatty tissue. His lips no longer meet and he'll need more surgery.
Don’t let Jack watch any Batman films for a while.
Thank you, DJ. I have a much clearer picture now about what happened, and I
still think that the neighbor is liable for the damages done to Jack.
If he were any kind of a mensch, he’d be opening his wallet before the court
gets involved here. You would both save money on attorney’s fees if he did.
