I just re-joined FR and I would like to post to my local NC state board but I am not able to. How do I get the ability to do that?
If I remember the recipes I have seen dumping them in boiling water kills the stinging stuff. I have never tried any. Mostly because it's easier to cook a lot of other stuff that I don't need to handle with gloves on just to throw it in the pot of boiling water. Should I at some indeterminate time in the future get a hankerin' for some nettle cuisine, there is plenty of the product growing on the 78 acres here - enough that if it ever becomes a hit I could sell it - certified organic too so I could double the price. (Only what grows up close to the house gets watered with glyphosate...)
Here ya go - if you're adventuresome. ;-)
Aw, shoot. Our “igniter” goes out fairly regularly.
Is it under warranty?
Sionnsar would promote nettles every spring. Never could bring myself to eat them, and this year is no exception ... in fact, they’re not even up yet, which means we’d have starved, back in old North Carolina.
It was the cheapest model, electric, I think the coil is only in the low $20 range, so not that major of an issue.
Your igniter went out to Baltimore today?
It’s working, for now. Some people know how to fix ovens, but we’re not them.
bump
There's always kudzu..
I thought I saw some (nettles) peaking up above ground earlier today while wandering around the property. Now that I seem to have convinced the Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica) to go away (after many waterings with glyphosate) there is a large section off to the East of the silo that seems to have attracted the nettles now that the competition is gone. Since this is close to the house, I have been watering them (the nettles) with the same concoction that I used on the knotweed. I haven't always managed to kill it off before it goes to seed and there is plenty more growing just beyond where kill zone perimeter is to supply extra seed..
Nettles and purple loosestrife are the main produce of the field that once was a cow pasture. Well, there's the ticks too but they aren't produce...
I don't have any purple loosestrife recipes.. ;-)
Hi Darks. What was going on with the hose??
I had a busy morning; we had a tornado form 6 miles from where I work so we had to evacuate down to the ground level into the stairway and wait it out for about a half hour. My youngest daughter, when she found out later, thought that was awesome. lol
Hope all’s well.
Everything ok over there?
It is a concern since I just found this old study that says your kin in Minnesota are dying due to glowbull warmthing.
So do try to stay cool, ok...

Well darnit, I seem to have stuttered.
That’s probably due to glowbull warmthing too...
It’s responsible for everything else; why not?
In a society that continually refuses to accept any personal responsibility for anything, AGW makes for a handy-dandy scapegoat..
“So what if you found my fingerprints at the crime scene? So what if the stolen goods were recovered from my SUV that appeared in the surveillance video? So what if the mud on my Bruno Magli shoes is identical to the mud at the scene and the footprint matches? Glowbull Warmthing made it happen. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Your facts are unimportant. I have this hockey stick to prove it.”
Kudzu isn’t in leaf yet. You can dig up the tubers and make something like tapioca with them, but I doubt many people in the South know that.
Happy Kitteh Tuesday Everybody!!!!!!
Of is kitty saying “ahhhh” for the doctor?
I don’t need a tongue depressor!
Good morning! I’m about to call the Offspring from their beds and see who is sick.
Would not all fit that category at that time?
