but you can eat stinging nettles, too, if you’re on the verge of starvation.

If I remember the recipes I have seen dumping them in boiling water kills the stinging stuff. I have never tried any. Mostly because it's easier to cook a lot of other stuff that I don't need to handle with gloves on just to throw it in the pot of boiling water. Should I at some indeterminate time in the future get a hankerin' for some nettle cuisine, there is plenty of the product growing on the 78 acres here - enough that if it ever becomes a hit I could sell it - certified organic too so I could double the price. (Only what grows up close to the house gets watered with glyphosate...)

Sionnsar would promote nettles every spring. Never could bring myself to eat them, and this year is no exception ... in fact, they’re not even up yet, which means we’d have starved, back in old North Carolina.
