BOSTON (CBS) You may have noticed that Tom Brady didnt look himself at Tuesdays Media Day.
No, it wasnt his bed head. And it wasnt from a lack of sleep thanks to an early morning fire alarm at the teams hotel.
As he prepares for the biggest game of the season, the Patriots quarterback is battling a cold.
And if you thought he looked rough on Tuesday, he looked a bit worse on Wednesday as he addressed the media at the team hotel in Chandler, Arizona.
Its been lingering, Brady told reporters as he held court for nearly 45 minutes Wednesday morning. Im just trying to get some rest, and a lot of garlic. An old remedy, so Im trying everything I can.
Brady said his kids got sick first, followed by his wife Gisele Bundchen, and now hes brought the illness to Arizona.
His sniffles were prominent and he had to wipe sweat from his brow on occasion as he fielded question after question, with many of the reporters having similar inquiries, but he handled them all in stride. While Media Day is a day for all the fun and goofy questions, the focus on Wednesday was mostly on the game itself.
And it will really feel like a return to normalcy when the Patriots resume practice this afternoon, as they prepare to face off against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.
It will be good to be back on the field today. There is a lot that goes with Super Bowl week, so it will be good to get on the field and re-focus, said Brady. We have our game plan set, so now its refining it and making sure its where we want it to be.
Its about having a good plan, and youre always confident going into the game. But you have to go out and execute it well. There wont be anything easy about it, he said. There are only 65-70 plays left in the season, so every play you call is paramount. We have to be dialed in and make sure every play we call can lead to success.
As for the vaunted Seattle defense, Brady said hes watched more film than he ever has to prepare.
Theyve been the best defense in the league for a long time. Its a big challenge for us, he said. Theyve been playing really well, especially the second half of the season. There are not a lot of easy plays out there. Theyre smart and do a great job playing complementary football.
Theres a lot to prepare for, but Brady sounds like hes in a good place cold and all.
Ill be at 100 percent. Im not worried about it at all, he said confidently.
Hopefully after Wednesdays practice session, he can sneak in a nap.
I don't believe that Madison Bumgarner is pitching in the Super Bowl. (His snotrockets are the stuff of legend.)
Maybe he will get a spot for Cold-Eeze............
How many people will be at the Superbowl? INDOORS.....................
AMEN! Second it!
God Bless Tom Brady and the Patriots!
Some of those.guys would roll around it.
Would it surprise you that the Seahawks had shown a glaring number of weaknesses in the NFC Championship round against Green Bay and barely got back into the Super Bowl? After a difficult week over “deflategate”, an angry and determined Patriots could very well hand Seahawks their rearends.
If the Pats get ahead like the Pack did, they'll rout them in the second half much like they did to Indy. It'll be pedal to the metal if they find some weaknesses to exploit.
The thermometer showed a temp of 12.5 degrees
I still say that the Patriots will win. Remember the AFC is resurging right now. While GB did not capitalize on opportunities as the NFC Championship progressed, Seatle show glaring mistakes good part of that game. Remember New England is NOT Denver.
Can anyone tell me why the personal foul penalty yardage at the end of the play where Wilson was sacked for a huge loss (towards the late stages of the 4th quarter) wasn’t tacked on to the end of the play? The Seahawks would have been looking at a 2nd and 43 yards to go for a first (they ended up making a first down on the subsequent 2nd and 28 or so play).
I always thought they did that when the foul was committed at the end of a play.
Rectal?.................
I said that when the Colts beat the Broncos (Peyton played the worst I've ever seen). I figured they would win, just never figured the second half would be a blow out of 28-0.
I expect this to be very close, a toss up of two very good teams. Well, not if the Hawks start as they did against the Pack. If they do, I promise Brady won't play not to lose, he'll pile it on.
Maybe Pete Carroll reverted to his old USC cheating days.....
:-)
Lose, ya cheata’s.
“Tom Brady Has A Cold”
Women and children most affected.
Wonder if he got it from the Locker Room Attendant?.............

GO HAWKS!!!
I’m not sure why it wasn’t treated as a seperate penalty. But - on the next play Matthews had an illegal use of the hands and it would have been first down regardless:
From the web:
“Packers LB Clay Matthews with a sack of Seahawks QB Russell Wilson in the third quarter!
A personal foul on the Seahawks was declined with a loss of 15 on the sack.
On third-and-19, Russell Wilson completed a 29-yard pass down the field to WR Doug Baldwin. An illegal use of hands penalty was called on Clay Matthews and it was first-and-10 for the Seahawks.”
