NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Reuters) - Two former Vanderbilt University football players were found guilty on Tuesday in the rape of an unconscious female student.
A jury in Nashville returned a verdict after less than four hours of deliberations. Prosecutors said the woman was raped on June 23, 2013, and that the assault was proved by what the young men recorded on a cellphone.
The case comes at a time of heightened national discussion about the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses.

I grew up right after your era
The quaalude one
Plenty group sex and gangbang stuff
I saw plenty embarrassing but consensual
And I heard of some that I thought wrong even then
It’s likely how you’re raised
But what they did to this girl was not like that.
Not even close.
When my wife first told me I thought yeah she got high and did a train and feels ashamed so she’s calling rape probably egged on by women’s studies sorts
I could not have been more wrong
I guess this sick white boy wanted some black approval in his warped world
Imagine the converse....not happening
He needs to be hanged
A woman has the right to get drunk and even pass out and expect not to be gang banged and sodomized and a plethora of seed shot upon her backside and face and hair and left half naked for review by others in the dorm and filmed during the process and that film sent to pals in California for review
And not to expect the coach to advise how to cover it up
This is like Normans running rough over Saxon women type behavior
What sort of men do this to a passed out women and enjoy the proximity of other erect willies?
There is a queer theme here as well
If that was one of my daughters or my wife it would be like the Baton Rouge airport killing anyone over 50 recalls
Screw the planning....just do it
If I understand correctly, two others are still due to stand trial. (?) At least the victim has received justice so far with the conviction of these first two.
According to other news stories: She’d just started dating the one football player. That night, he gave her some drinks (probably drugged her), and surveillance caught all four dragging her into a room.
What’s even more horrifying is that the four of them sent images of what they’d done to their friends. And no one reported it. A fifth guy in the room in the top bunk said and did nothing while it was happening. :-0
You have to wonder: Why is it that so many students in one place are willing to commit this crime together and so many other students are willing to look the other way/laugh it off?
The only conclusion to draw is that this must be a common occurrence, and these guys and their friends have no moral conscience. They might’ve committed the same crime before; maybe this is only the first time they were caught.
What creates sociopaths like this? According to the news, these four guys put a porn video on after dragging their victim into the room. My theory: You can bet that they and their friends have been watching violent internet porn since they were young. It programs young boys to grow up looking at women as things to be used in all sorts of violent ways and then thrown away like trash.
Package deal: immediate parole and football scholarships at FSU.
I agree, but couldn’t help but make this change to your post:
“All it takes is a narcissistic personality in elected office, and an electorate who worship celebrities.”
You list 20 or so bad-behaving players. Out of how many players over their time span? Ratio might be about same as for general male population. We could also consider race in this analysis.
“Out of how many players over their time span?”
We don’t know. Most athletes have ‘protected status’.
that works too.
Nicely said!
I’’m training my boys to be vigilant
Yes two others await trial
Their lawyers got separation
The one who got the deal was part of the coverup not the act
So I think I understand it
In my nearly 60 I’ve seen guys falsely accused by a girls shame as folks found out she went wild after the fact....sunday morning remorse as they say
That is not the case here
These are guilty
Women are vulnerable and at least I was raised to acknowledge that
And I really really really always liked girls...,, they were my drug..... one still is
But man....to have to face my dad if I did that to a woman
Makes me emotional even 18 years after his death I shudder to ponder
Like I said.....it’s how you came up
I rarely excuse blacks but I’d wager this white boy who offered this woman up to them like an animal offering likely had more parenting than did they
They all suck but he’s repugnant
Under the jail.
I agree this was pure evil and it pleases me to see the Tennessee jurors render justice. With any luck the convicts of Tennessee will add their own sentence.
“What sort of men do this to a passed out women and enjoy the proximity of other erect willies? There is a queer theme here as well”
That’s occurred to me as well. It’s an animal mentality with a queer twist to it.
“I saw plenty embarrassing but consensual. And I heard of some that I thought wrong even then. Its likely how youre raised”
One gal in my high school pulled a train for some of the football team. At least she was reputed to and I have no reason to doubt it because I heard the story from several who were there.
I’ve never quite figured out who was the most degraded in that adventure. I’d say it was a race to the bottom for all concerned. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t see anything the least bit erotic in a human dogpile. One notch above Sodom and Gomorrah.
“If that was one of my daughters or my wife it would be like the Baton Rouge airport killing anyone over 50 recalls”
I remember that incident very well. A news crew had their camera set up by a bank of pay phones waiting for a pedophile to be escorted past them. A man was talking on one of the pay phones. As the pedophile walked past the man on the phone wheeled around and shot the child molester dead. All caught on tape. The executioner turned out to be the little kid’s dad. Cheers went up all across the country.
Same here. I have all sons. One is in college now. I tried my best to raise him to be a gentleman, and I think I succeeded. But, before he left, I warned him:
(1) Never drink an open drink (soda or anything else) that's handed to you by someone else, even by someone you think you can trust. Because young men can become victims too.
(2) If you have a girlfriend, stay a gentleman. Or you could end up being falsely accused of a crime. Even if you think she's the nicest, most trustworthy woman in the world.
There were many other warnings I gave him. I was very straightforward with him about what to expect. He was homeschooled and is a smart young man. To be honest, he has more of a moral conscience than I did at his age (and I'm his mother). I just hope he heeds my advice the whole four years.
However, I differ with many of you here about "race." I could care less if the boyfriend was white or black or purple. Or what skin color the other rapists had. They raped a woman - that's all I need to know.
My own sons are of mixed heritage. Due to homeschooling, the one in college may possibly be the most innocent student on campus. I'm sure the other students there were raised by loving, caring parents, too. But, in the end, young people make their own decisions, sometimes despite what their parents tried to teach them.
I don't remember that story. But, I just looked it up. That child grew up, and he works with other victims. He ended up moving to and working in my old hometown in the northeast. Small world.
Yeah, for every one that got caught, there's a hundred that didn't. Then there's the "Sanduskies" of the "community".
Why do you think they call them "The Packers"?
I had tried looking up that shooting awhile back but couldn’t find it anywhere. It had been big news in SoCal because the pedophile was caught with the boy and arrested out here.
In my memory he got shot at John Wayne Airport, but in fact that’s simply where he was put on the plane back to Baton Rouge for his rendezvous with destiny.

Scary how a parent can’t really trust anyone. I’m glad that the father was let off with probation and community service and that the boy grew up to be all right.
What is it with the friends of these girls? In this case, the Hannah Graham case and the victim of jameis winston you had totally trashed, underaged college girls that their friends let get taken away by complete strangers.

“Then there was the ever-present football player rapist”
