A woman who vowed that if she didnt find love by the time she turned 40 married herself earlier this month in a lavish ceremony here in Houston, according to reports.
Yasmin Eleby married herself at the Houston Museum of African American Culture on January 3 in a lavish ceremony with10 bridesmaids in attendance, plus family and other guests on hand to celebrate the event.
For this ceremony, Elebys minister sister performed the spiritual service, as its not legal to marry yourself. The pictures from the ceremony look normal, except that Eleby is by herself in the photos and not standing with a spouse.
According to John Guess Jr., the CEO of the complex, the event was very much in line with the forward thinking normally found at the HMAAC, which welcomes and invites people of all sexual orientations to enjoy and rent the facility. They routinely have same-sex dances and commitment ceremonies on site. The surrounding community, Guess Jr. says, has fully embraced the HMAAC.
When he heard what Eleby, who works overseas in the oil and gas industry, was planning at the HMAAC he rushed over to see it for himself.
Once she hit 40 she figured if she didnt find someone who loved her as much as she did, she would marry herself, says Guess Jr., who has now seen Elebys ceremony go viral. He agrees with Elebys notion that loving yourself for who you are completely before loving someone else is the key to happiness.
So many people get married without thinking twice about who they are pairing with, Guess Jr. says.
He thinks that once potential suitors see how Eleby treats herself that she could have some competition (for herself).
Shes attractive, she works hard, and shes worldwide, he says. She also has a sense of humor about the situation too he adds.
It doesnt hurt her that shes now indicated to others that she has high standards, Guess Jr. says.
As for her honeymoon plans, sources have said that she listed Cambodia, Laos, and a jazz festival in Dubai as stops on the itinerary.
You might even say she’s beside herself.
Anyone remember Woody Woodbury on how to romance a fat woman?
You need a piece of chalk to mark where you’ve left off.
;^)
...talk about unjustified narcissism...
“She’s attractive, works hard, is world wide...” Said John Guess Jr. ( Presided over ceremony )
This has got to be a put on...right?
Looks like she has been eating her husband’s portion too, with no husband.
So now she can...consummate the marriage with...herself with a clear conscience.

You think this is bad,
wait till three months from now when she files for divorce.
That will be interesting.
What I want to know is, when she dies does she get survivor benefits from SS? I already know she’ll still be voting.
More than likely, what she really married was the Energizer Bunny.
Though I heard the honeymoon was in fact pretty conventional.
Shopping, great Asian food, a little sun in Dubai, and long romantic evenings making love to her better half.
I wonder if she can deduct herself?
i know someone who, when she turned forty and was still not married, threw a big birthday celebration for herself... she figured since she was not likely to ever have the big wedding, she would have a big birthday bash... no ceremony... just reception and dance...
What the hell is “world wide”?
She married herself. But I suspect she is already cheating.
With BOB.

What the hell is world wide?

Look at her picture. If she isn’t the perfect definition of “world wide”, then I don’t know what is.
One time I sued myself and lost everything!
She’ll lose B.O.B. in the Divorce.
People need to have elaborate dances again. Or debutante balls. Might save us from this silliness.
Well I started out with Nothing.
And I still have plenty of it.
