Vice President Joe Biden wrapped up his California visit on Friday by telling doctors that the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, had ended the debate about whether health care is a privilege or a right, according to the Orange County Register.
Biden was speaking to the Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit, congratulating doctors on a rapid reduction in the rate of hospital-borne infections in recent years. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also spoke to the meeting.
There is no provision in the Constitution or in the text of the Obamacare bill that refers to health care as a right. Nor are any other necessitiessuch as food, water, shelter and clothingrights under any federal law or constitutional provision.

The bible says food is not a right, how much less healthcare.
SO many doctors are having nothing to do with Obamacare....
it will be interesting to see just what kind of “medical care” the enrollees actually receive
“Why isnt free dentistry a right, too?”
Awe, Jeeze! Now you’ve given them ANOTHER expensive idea! ;)
Or if someone is compelled to treat you, at the expense of others. No right requires any action on part of someone else. You have freedom of speech, but you cannot force someone to listen to you.
Biden cannot say that healthcare is a constitutionally protected right for the following reason.
As a consequence of Constitution-ignoring FDR working with his corrupt, Democratic-controlled Congress to wrongly establish federal healthcare programs like Medicare outside the framework of the Constitution, likewise with Obama and the corrupt Democratic-controlled Congress that drafted the unconstitutional Obamacare law, federal healthcare programs are not a constitutionally protected right and subject to the political whims of corrupt Congress. So if Biden really wants healthcare to be a constitutionally enumerated right then he needs to do the following.
As he and Obama should have done before Obamacare was established, Biden needs to inspire Congress to propose a healthcare amendment to the Constitution to the states. And if the states choose to ratify Bidens amendment, then Congress will have the constitutional authority that it needs to establish Obamacare, healthcare will be a constitutionally enumerated right, and Biden will be a hero.
Obamacare has little to do with Healthcare.
It marginally pays for medical services but, can eat right through a person’s budget, who is otherwise healthy.
Besides, I thought Obamacare was a tax, in Robert’s convoluted world.
If, it were a tax, why does 99% of revenues derived from this tax go to private companies?
Healthcare is neither a price ledge or a right.
It’s a commodity.
This slave took his skills and went overseas with them.
PRO... What else can we expect from “ole slo Joe”?
And what about the right to have Free Puppies.
I have been working overseas for the last 15 months.
Great money. No taxes, no lawsuits, no bogus “patient satisfaction surveys”.
Actually, Slow Joe, you idiots made it not a privilege, not a right, but an obligation.
It can’t be a “right” if somebody else has to do it for you. Alone on a deserted island, how do you exercise this “right?”
In a coople of years medicare people will not be able to exercise this right any more. All the hospitals and just about all the doctors will have disconnected themselves from the medicare system altogether as the hospitals all lose 1/3 of their medicare reimbursements due to having to readmit patients with further problems or they will simply refuse to readmit in the first place and will decline those patients judged to be susceptible of complications i.e. most of them.
Quite correct. Hear, Hear!
Just how much of this utter insanity does Joe have to verbally defecate in public before people realize this leftist lunatic is way past due to be wearing a straitjacket in a padded cell... along with his supporters?
Joe just being Joe. Actually if he WERE talking out his rectal orifice, it may be much more believable because that part has far more native good sense than his oral orifice.
Just as there is no such thing as “settled science”, there is, in a much larger sense, no such thing as “settled law”.
Conditions evolve, laws are found to be either inadequate or sometimes neither enforceable nor applicable.
Health care is not so much a “right” as it is a PERSONAL obligation and duty to learn as much as possible about the care and maintenance of your own body, so that only rarely shall extraordinary, or even more than minimal medical services, need to be applied by a second party professional. And certainly no third party should be making the decisions on what is the right course of treatment and management, should the occasion arise.
